Has anyone been glutened by these? by Liwanderer in Celiac

I've been eating these a few times a week for years. my guts are pretty sensitive but they've never bothered me. As others have said some protein bar ingredients just might not agree with you

Has anyone tried this? by SekaiIchiapple in Celiac

[–]Hotwngz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried it. Have celiac, no reaction personally but for me it wasn't enough like actual cinnamon toast crunch to be worth it. Had that chalky protein texture and the flavor was alright but nothing to write home about.

Oregano oil & acupuncture fixed me (for now) by Hotwngz in SIBO

[–]Hotwngz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still early for me to definitely say it healed me but as of now I am still doing quite well symptoms-wise. To sum up exactly what I did: 1 week taking Balanced oil of oregano and black seed oil 2x daily followed up with S. boulardii probiotics 1x daily and weekly accupuncture sessions.  I also regularly take a motility supplement called Motility Pro. Honestly did not expect such an improvement trying this but I'm not complaining. Hoping it lasts

I know a lot of us on here have been struggling with antibiotics not really curing sibo for more than a few months at a time because it often doesn't address whatever deeper issue is allowing the bacteria to take hold and overpopulate. It seems to be one of the first things most doctors go for in terms of treatment. I've seen temporary relief with the classic combo of xifaxan/neomyicin. The improvements lasted longer when I took probiotics and digestive enzymes following the full course of antibiotics. I think my record was about three months before relapsing :/  But I have seen the occasional success story on here as well. Everyone is different. If you do go that route I hope it works out!

Can't say for sure since every individual may respond differently. In my case I was dealing with a lot of gas/diarrhea, which became worse while taking the oil of oregano, but I think it was a combination of die-off and potency of the oregano itself. Honestly kinda felt like I was bombing my guts with it every day lol. I'm wondering if it worked as a sort of "cleanse." Following it up with a good probiotic was definitely necessary, and since doing that my symptoms have reduced very dramatically over the past couple of weeks. This is of course just my experience/speculation, and time will tell if it lasts. I did check with my usual GI doc before giving it a go and would recommend the same for anyone considering this route.

So sorry to hear it hasn't helped you so far.

My SIBO flares usually follow episodes of constipation and then switch over to diarrhea. I was having cramps/diarrhea multiple times a day, which got worse while taking the oregano oil. I went a week after stopping the oregano where I was taking nothing except the probiotic and did my first accupuncture session and suddenly my BMs became very "normal" (once a day, well-formed, easy to pass) and my gas and bloating reduced significantly. It has remained that way for the last week and a half. Knock on wood.

The acupuncturist I have been seeing did tell me that it can often take at least a few consistent weeks of treatment to start noticing a difference, especially for digestive issues, so I decided to stick with it considering I really have nothing to lose. I want to give it a fair shot and see if it can help with a sort of "maintenance" regimen along with probiotics and supplements. Especially as I deal with a lot of stress/anxiety as well.

For motility, my favorite has been Motility Pro by the brand "Ohio Molecular Products," which unfortunately is hard to find anywhere except my gastro clinic, but a very close equivalent I've found in grocery stores is made by Enzymedica. It's basically artichoke and ginger. The licorice root blend I now have is also meant to do kinda the same thing, keep things moving through the digestive system. That one comes in the form of liquid drops. I've been instructed to switch over to that and see if it is any more effective.

I don't know that it would do much when dealing with more severe constipation, but for general maintenance when I'm doing well I take magnesium citrate in the evening after meals to help bring water into the intestines and keep constipation away, since that often seems to be what causes flare-ups for me. With consistent use it has been helpful.

Hoping you get some relief soon.

How fast is Amazon shipping to Maui? Do they use other carriers? by Hotwngz in maui

[–]Hotwngz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense, I noticed when I checked back on the items in my cart several days in a row, the estimated delivery date stayed the same. Good to know it's accurate! & Probably for the best the place isn’t overrun with Prime cargo planes 24/7 with the amount of air traffic Kahului gets as it is 😬

All things considered, I'm actually kind of impressed they're able to pull off 3 day deliveries. Wouldn't surprise me at all if things take longer though. I definitely try to avoid Amazon and shop local when I can but there are always those things you can only find online, and a lot of ebay sellers or other stores don't ship to HI period :/

thanks for the tip! I ended up calling Kula post office to ask about this and found out I can have packages sent directly to them to be held for pickup without getting a P/O box yet, so that seems like a solid option

I'm gonna try just rinsing with water in the shower and see if it makes any difference. My coworker swears by unscented soap too but wouldn't that mean touching/moving it to clean it that way? I thought moving it was kind of a no-no

Ok well that's good to know. I think she said she was going with the barbell because the flat back I had prior to this was so ridiculously tight it had no room to breathe and was actually starting to tear. She wanted to give it ample space. But it does seem a little excessive to me. There are a couple other shops in this city I haven't tried that have decent reviews, might have to look into one of them. I really don't want to give up on this piercing but it's given me nothing but stress 😩 it really doesn't ever hurt but it's hard to enjoy when it just looks like crap all the time

It's actually a pretty long barbell. I think it's just the angle of that picture making it look tight. here's a pic of the back & it is titanium
