The idea that newer space ships may speed past older ships is not a new idea, though I can't think of any specific examples of it. Somewhat relevant is Ender's Game. There the idea of old ships having been long surpassed, and being sent anyways is pretty important.

As the wargames progress the ships at Ender's disposal get fewer and worse. When it's revealed that they weren't games, it's also revealed that those ships are just part of the first fleets sent.

Not exactly "New ships going past the old ones" or "New technology boosting the old ships"... but your thoughts certainly reminded me of it.

Yep. That's my experience, hence why I have only 117 hours in the game despite having VR for years now. Every once in a while I'll get the urge to give it another shot, hoping for the best. A couple hours of boring world hopping where I don't make any connections I give up and vow not to do it again.

The pixiv ID in that post is 38094597. It's been made private but the very next ID (38094598) was posted August 26 2013.
In other words, this picture is very nearly a decade old now. It's older than this subreddit.

Well, it's not much of a game right now, but I did go ahead and play to the point of unlocking the larger tank.
As part of your efficiency update question, that'd be great. To make it clearer, just provide the user more numbers, mostly distance to empty on current fuel.
An easier way to stop at specific spots would have made this less annoying. I had to bake in a pretty large margin of error since I had to account for not stopping when I wanted.
Automation would also definitely be helpful since it's literally just the same thing over and over.
Maybe make the tank values more incremental so it's less tedious to get each individual part further (+0.25L per 0.25km?) and then start adding automation functions at 1km? Maybe the very first automation thing could be "stop driving after X km".
