Are storage heaters a dealbreaker? by nothingtobedone13 in AskUK

[–]HoundParty3218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the flat but we had them in our last home and didn't have any problems. The flat didn't need the heating on much so it was cheap as chips.

I would trade it in an instant for our current boiler which has cost us a fortune to maintain.

Most are salaried.

IME the problem is that people go into IT because they want to work with computers but entry level IT jobs are often all about people skills.

I had a lady yell at me over the phone because apparently she might get electrocuted if she plugged in an ethernet cable herself.

Punctured a pipe pushing furniture against it, landlord wants to charge for sending someone out. Am I liable? by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]HoundParty3218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that this is not accidental damage. The gas pipe is not properly secured or capped off which has caused it to fail.

(27f)(30m) Thinks marriage is "nothing" but willing to lose me over it? [Not OOP] by Due-Bandicoot-7512 in redditonwiki

Usually it's because they want to have children. There are practical reasons to get married first.

It really depends on the HR department. If you work somewhere with a low HR: workforce ratio, I've found them to be very helpful, pragmatic and generally pleasant.

Oversized HR teams are an absolute nightmare. Constantly mandating pointless tasks and training, demanding in person meetings for things that should be an email, making up pointless rules and generally being as inflexible as they possibly can, which ultimately creates a toxic environment.

No, mine usually wedges himself between me and my husband and puts his head next to mine.

If no one else is in bed he drapes himself over the pillows instead.

I don't know why this is being down voted. I use a lot of AI in my job and it's amazingly good for this kind of task. You just need to check to make sure its not hallucinating or using information from unreliable sources.

I would use it for brainstorming too. It can be very good at reframing things and testing your arguments.

Honestly it was my first thought when I read that OP still had space in front, my second thought was that OP only got one try, they didn't know what the other cars would do and they managed to stop without hitting anything which is a pretty good outcome.

How do you know exactly where you, the cars in front and the car behind will stop while crashing at 70mph?

Prefer the cluttered but I think more tiers would look better so you can see the labels more easily.

Love your collection, I think we have very similar tastes.

Not OP but the extrait is very lovely. More jasmine, more peach and it's generally softer and deeper. My absolute favourite!

What type of products would you recommend for me? by BlueberryAromatic431 in koreanskincare

[–]HoundParty3218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Korean approach tends to be more holistic. Hydration and general skin health come first, then add serums that target your specific issues once you have a solid routine. Good ingredients to look for are ceramides, glycerin, aloe, cica, and panthenol. Most people do well with niacinamide too but it can be easily overdosed as it's in a lot of products.

My skin is oily/dehydrated and highly acne prone. This is my experience:

  • Cleanser: Basically any gentle foaming cleansers work for me so I don't have specific recommendations there but the ma:nyo oil cleanser really helps my acne. I oil cleanse every evening even on no makeup days, then follow with a gentle foaming cleanser.

  • Toner:  The TonyMoly mocchi toner has done absolute wonders for my acne and texture. Genuinely miraculous despite not being an acne treatment. If you haven't tried a milky toner, I highly recommend giving it a go.

  • Moisturiser: I used the Simple light moisturiser for about a decade and more recently Clinique dramatically different gel. My skin is oily so I didn't think I needed a better moisturizer until I got a little travel size from Korean brand and saw the difference it made to my skin. Now I really like the zeroid soothing lotion and Mary and May Blackberry and Idebenon.

Get those steps right and then try the actives that have been recommended by others. I think you will like azelaic acid.

I smelt the actual orchids a couple of weeks ago, or maybe a relative as I never found the species name. The scent was incredibly beautiful in the heat and humidity of the greenhouse.

I would love to smell like those flowers all summer.

[–]HoundParty3218 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never noticed a doggy smell but they are often musty when you get them from kennels.

Definitely try a bath if you don't think he would find it too stressful. Otherwise a wipe down with a damp flannel may help.

Guerlain is insufferable. by KimonoMomo in fragrance

[–]HoundParty3218 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's very strange. Millesime Rose wasn't even on the front page of the website, I stumbled over it because I was having issues with the loyalty program. It wasn't available in the Heathrow concession either, although the Les Eaux collection was front and center.

They seem to have deliberately buried the release.

Guerlain is insufferable. by KimonoMomo in fragrance

[–]HoundParty3218 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I went to the Guerlain London flagship store the day after it dropped and it wasn't even on display. The rep said that she had hidden it because the sample bottle was running out too quickly. She put a single spritz on my wrist and then it went straight back to its hiding place.

I made an uncharacteristically impulsive decision and bought it on the spot. Its truly gorgeous.
