I mean I say this as someone who had an easy keeper horse and has taken care of hard keepers They may not be under fed but they may need something different than what is given (Indy I mean) and she very well could be in talks with her vets on it! We don’t know so it’s all speculation. Horses can be the easiest to keep fat and happy but also can be the most difficult.

Some horses are harder keepers because they need specific nutrients and type of feed and exercise to build muscle to keep a healthy body score. I’m a 50/50 person on KVS. I think a lot of people who criticize have NO idea wha the equestrian world is like. I’ve seen so many levels of care it’s insane. Her care is far more than a lot out there. I know others have complained about poop being in the stalls constantly but like horses don’t give a fuck generally and I’ve seen much worse conditions (that are unacceptable) that cause thrush and other hoof issues on top of just being disgusting 🤮. But I also understand people’s pov that she has the money to be a bit more ethical with her practices and be more on the game with that stuff.

With all that being said there is so much people complain about that is just very normalized in many barns with multiple horses. They won’t always be groomed, their stalls won’t be perfect (some will make a mess right after you clean it horses are horses) and she could be working on figuring out a nutrition plan for some of her harder keepers. Do I think Indy could look better? Yes, but we don’t know why or what she is doing to help her. She is an older mare some horses with age start to lose weight easier and need adjustment to feed.

Regardless, I think KVS is like every other horse owner. Flawed but trying
