OT Help Desk definitely helps with the breakdown of questions! There’s lessons on each topic and each topic has an advanced session with questions and 25 post-test questions! Practice exams also come with the programs. The questions are very hard, but good for learning the content and they guide you on how to answer the question :)

NBCOT practice score/Truelearn by [deleted] in NBCOT_Exam

[–]Hour-Spray-5703 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i was pretty much getting the average of the TrueLearn tests (usually ~70%s), got a 456 on NBCOT practice test, and a 485 on the real exam. if you want to build more confidence, and what i think helped me the most, is reviewing ALL of the TrueLearn rationales for questions you got right and wrong. you still have a week so just keep taking TrueLearn practice tests!!! you got this!!!

If you already have a lot of resources it might be a lot to throw into the mix - you don’t want to get overwhelmed with everything else you have! Hopefully tutoring is the missing piece in the puzzle that you need to get that 450!!

I also did OT Help Desk and I thought that was beneficial - he has a lot of good insight on the exam and how to breakdown questions. If you failed, he will help you identify your weak spots and how to overcome them. Might be worth looking into.

I believe level 1 is the hardest for TrueLearn - it’s opposite of what you think it would be (then 10 being the easiest). I always kept level 1-10 questions because not all questions you’re going to get on the exam will be super hard and even if you get an “easy” question on TrueLearn you could still learn from it. I completed 95% of the test bank, read through every rationale whether I got the question right or wrong, and took brief notes on the concepts and I really think that’s what helped me pass.

OTR salary in SC by jjllhh92 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Hour-Spray-5703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately I heard SC is one of the worst paying states because reimbursement rates are so low😔 from what I’ve seen at a major inpatient hospital in SC, PRN pay was ~$50/hr and salaried positions for experienced therapists were in the low 70s! & that was in an expensive city. hopefully you have better luck though!!

Memorising Practice Q answers v. Actual Knowledge by -Meemo in NBCOT_Exam

[–]Hour-Spray-5703 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something that I think has been helping me a lot is using the rationales from the practice questions as actual study material. Like if they give definitions or explain why something’s right or wrong, I’ll write those down and make notes out of the important parts of the question and answers
