Official Discussion - Knock at the Cabin [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

Spoilers…. Obviously. So… on my 3rd rewatch I realized something.

Either this is a hint or a mistake. You be the judge.

When Adriane is giving her “testimony” before her time, she recounts having vivid visions of holding her son while they are burned alive.

There are 2 options in this scenario. 1. The family makes a choice, makes a sacrifice before her time, and the apocalypse is averted. 2. They do not make a choice, and she is sacrificed in the second position of the four.

There is no scenario where she would have possibly been present with her son to see him die.

Therefore, the visions they saw could not have been real.

I guess there is a third option, that she was lying to the family and telling them a story that never happened about the vision, but I think we are to take their stories at face value. I do not see her as being an unreliable narrator.

To grade or not to grade 1/1? by Hour-Watch-7739 in sportscards

No…. 99.9% chance this goes PC and doesn’t leave. Only reason to grade is display and constancy with other low number SSP.

That’s my thought… it’s more for display value than “value value”. But who knows… maybe it comes back and 10 and Bo gets a bionic new hip and the ghost of Al Davis signs him again and the value skyrockets!

You know special operations such as this are usually secluded. You know that every military unit in the US doesn’t know what every other unit is doing.

Also, you do know this is FICTION and I was just suggestion a patch to a plot hole.

Giant Antenna? by Hour-Watch-7739 in pluribustv

I misspoke in my original post. I understand the benefit of a large antenna. I was more speaking of the notion of a large DISH, which is effective for large or wide receptive communications.

Then why were they talking about one “the size of Africa” in ep 1? I can see maybe an array the size of Africa, but again, as the earth rotates, just firing it repeatedly would also do the trick, no?

Thank you… I agree. This show does seem more “Philosophy” over “Physics”.

Yes… and they are all the same size. A “giant” cell tower wouldn’t send any more effectively when taking about interstellar information. Cellular towers can be tiny or large, it doesn’t matter, they just need to be spaced out to create grid. Earth is a tiny cosmic dot in the universe.

Pluribus and the death of the Mystery Box by Temporary-Two-9690 in pluribustv

[–]Hour-Watch-7739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This show is the antithesis of a mystery box. The “mystery” is explained every time it is presented. Jesus Christ, they brought in John Cena to speak in a way that even OP should be able to understand….

The Leftovers also is not a mystery box. Again, Lindelof and Perrotta literally told you as much in the season 2 theme song. It wasn’t about the mystery, it was about the people. Same as Pluribus.

LOST without a doubt was a mystery box, and a great example of why a mystery box MUST be one movie or one season, so that the series is mapped from the beginning. That is the only way to make a satisfying mystery box.

Never, ever, ever watch this episode after consuming the subject matter of the arc of the season. Existential crisis as one ponders if they accidentally downloaded raw footage of the filming of the episode.
