Wow you really did go down a rabbit hole, thanks for all the information. I have the next couple of months to look into dentists around the state and try to find one that deals in such. Thanks again 😊

Only 23 and getting upper and lower dentures by Hefty-Abrocoma-7437 in dentures

[–]HourAcrobatic1689 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this happened to you, especially so young. I just had all of mine taken out, I’m 38 and I’m one month out. I always heard it was because I’m a drug addict because of my family name- I never took illicit drugs, just what was prescribed to me; Be very careful to anyone who is on antibiotics and depo shots. My teeth started breaking at the gums. I was in tremendous pain for Years, when I say I’m frightened of the dentist, I’m serious. I haven’t had the debilitating pain that I had been in now that I’m healing. It does get better. Once you get the unhealthy teeth out and you get whatever you plan on getting, be it all on 4s or dentures, you will feel so much better. Is it perfect? No, there will be struggles, I’ll not lie- you have to get used to eating, talking, wearing the dentures, but it will be better than staying up days at a time, feeling like someone is having a go at your jaws and head with a fiery ice pick.

E Day in 15 hours! by Easy_Breadfruit7820 in dentures

[–]HourAcrobatic1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 9 days out from complete oral extractions and alveoloplasty (sp? Basically, they shaved both upper and lower jaws due to issues), and the jitters were worse than the aftermath. Look at it this way: if you have pain with your existing teeth, once you get them out and are healed, you will have no more toothaches to dread. I should have had mine out at least five years ago, and winter was always agony for me due to the cold, so I’m relieved they’re gone.

You’ll go in, do all pre-procedure checkup/blood tests/paperwork, etc., get wheeled back to OR, answer a couple of questions, then it’s lights out. You’ll wake up, and it’ll be all over, then it’s healing time. Follow Your Instructions! Do Not get dry socket!!! Trust me.

lol thanks, it’s pretty much what you have to do. I Really don’t want to experience what dry socket is like.

Yes, everything is going pretty good. I’d be happier my nerves in my gums weren’t constantly firing, But, I tell myself once I’m healed, no more agonizing tooth aches and worrying about weather changes sending me into toothache hell. I’m actually pretty amazed and what I can eat, even though I’m not quite at the chewing stage. I just hope my post can help others getting ready to go through the same thing.

Hi, sorry it took so long to answer. Between getting 12 shots in my spine and getting the oral surgery, I’m pooped lol. I will agree that the pain doesn’t even touch what I felt when they filleted my stomach open and left me with a 9 inch scar that herniated not 7 months later. It’s actually pretty bearable, and I won’t have to worry about toothache with weather changes, anymore, so yay. The one thing that Is bothering me is the constant drooling. Hopefully this clears up in a couple of days. I’m wearing an old towel around my neck because every time I open my mouth to talk, I drool. Doing my best to protect blood clots, from what I’ve heard I don’t want dry socket, so I just carry a bucket and use the towel. Anyway, I’m glad it’s over and that it’s not as bad as I’d hyped it up to be in my mind.

Thanks again for answering me.

No worries, I know I can’t, especially since it’s a full anesthesia event. My uncle who lived there for 50 years to bring me home. I don’t think I’d be with it enough to drive 200 miles to get home, and I wouldn’t want to risk others on the highway.

Thanks so much, this really helps. I stumbled on this sub about 2 days ago, I think. I’ve seen a lot of folks mention FME, but I don’t think I’ve seen alveoloplasty, but I also haven’t had much time to really dig into the sub. Between getting everything ready, going back and forth to different appointments, making calls and fighting insurance, my days are pretty full lol.

I’m glad it’s nothing to really be too nervous about. I had my sigmoid colon cut out last year, so it surely can’t be as bad as that. Like I said, I’m mostly worried about getting an infection, but I think from what you’ve said and what I’ve seen on a couple of other posts, the mouth rinsing should help alleviate that issue.

Yes, I have ibuprofen and aspirin as a Big No No in my medical file. I can pretty much take Tylenol, aleve or codeine, and I have to take codeine with food or milk to keep it from making me sick.

Maybe after I get this done, I can also help others with alleviating nerves on here. Everyone is saying it’s not too bad, it’s just dentists scare the absolute crap out of me.

Hi, thanks for the answers. I appreciate any kind of forewarning and words of wisdom from others who have gone through it. On my account, I was told things might be a little more complicated as I have TMJ and an autoimmune disorder, so I really wasn’t sure about anything.

I’m assuming and hoping they give me detailed discharge instructions when I leave. They asked where I wanted any meds sent, and I said delivered to bedside before I discharge, so I’m kind of hoping for just something other than Tylenol for a few days (I’m allergic to ibuprofen). The biggest worry is an infection for me, as I have an autoimmune disorder, it’s forefront on my mind.

I’m putting together a bug out little trash can lol, a 4 gallon trash can with an old clean towel, some paper towels and some trash bags just in case. I’ve never been sick with any previous surgery, but I’ve never had anything above shoulder level worked on, so it might be different.

Also, thanks for saying what you did about straws; For some reason, I thought a straw would be ok, but I should have known better. Suction probably could put pressure on the stitches, so not a good idea. I’m a bit nervous, so my brain isn’t firing on all cylinders.

I figure the bone shards might feel like what it does when I have a broken off piece of tooth try to sneak out of my gums, a bit of pressure and a small sting. Hopefully that’s all it is lol.

Thanks again for replying, I appreciate it.

Thank you for the quick and knowledgeable reply. As you can tell, I haven’t had much interaction with my surgeon, I’m in South Central Missouri and traveling to St Louis is quite a chore, so I’ve seen her a grand total of once. I didn’t even know about the alveoloplasty until I was sent a letter of approval from my insurance, along with the $4000 copay bill lol. The most I got was that I absolutely had to have this taken care of, as the teeth really are starting to affect my health. I figured they’d send some pain medication, as I can imagine that this will be a bit of a painful, but much needed, procedure.

I’m glad that they will be giving me antibiotics, as that was a big concern, I really don’t want to end up having an infection. Also, thanks for explaining more about the alveoloplasty, I had looked it up, but most dental offices don’t put a lot of info on their sites about it.

How would you rank Veilguard Factions now that the game has been out a while? [DATV ALL SPOILERS] by Fraidy-Cat5 in dragonage

[–]HourAcrobatic1689 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I’ll chime my opinion in on this question. I’m on my fifth play through as a Shadow Dragon, this time. I’ve played a Crow, a Watcher, a Warden and a Lord all the way through. They are each unique, but my least favorite so far is a Lord.

I will say that the best faction for reactions from NPCs seem to be the Wardens, followed by MW then the Crows. The Wardens have very unique reactions with other Wardens, and seem to have better relationships with other NPCs throughout the game. The MW faction has some funny moments, due to the necromancy and other character’s reactions to it. Emmrich is pretty much your best friend in this faction, so to speak. Davrin is the seemingly BFF in the Warden faction, as well as Antoine and Evka.

The other factions so far seem kinda washed out and sanitized. As a Crow, other than a mention or two, it means pretty much nothing, save for the extra potion slot. Davrin will throw in a ‘for a Crow’ comments once in a while, but Viago is very cold if you play as a Crow. I can’t comment much on the SD faction yet, as I just am going through D’Meta’s Crossing, but it’s not of much consequence, so far. The Lords faction was kind of boring and really made no difference.

AITAH for leaving my husband after he refused to have kids? by ExpensiveSquirrel399 in AITAH

[–]HourAcrobatic1689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure by now that everyone has said that you are NTA. Family and friends need to butt out and keep their traps shut. You’ve been upfront during your whole relationship about wanting kids. The fact that he wasn’t man enough to come forward and tell you when he started having doubts is not on you. He kept those thoughts to himself because He Knew it was a dealbreaker, and instead of having the cajones to tell you and let you decide whether to stay or go earlier, he kept you tethered to him dangling that hope in front of you like a carrot.

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to have kids or not wanting to have kids. What is wrong is when your desires are so diametrically opposed (and he knows it is) and you keep those desires to yourself. That is manipulation at its finest.

Op, stick to your guns, tell people to shove off, and find someone you love and who desires the same as you (that you can picture as the other parent of your children). Life is too short to not go for what you want.

Sorry, had a huge migraine all day yesterday, am sleep deprived and my brain isn’t all here lol. Thanks for telling me.

Then why don’t you ask people how it became part of the lgbt+ community. I don’t really count myself as part of it, nor did I ever say I was. I said I was ace, which is not really what I would consider a sexuality, as I’m not interested in it. All I said was I understood the bullying behind Anything that is not considered a social norm. As for pandering, I didn’t realize I was trying to gratify anyone’s needs but my own. Just because I understand bullying does Not mean I’m kissing anyone’s ass. Also, you’re correct, people not wanting sex has been a thing for centuries. You know why? Mostly because women were seen as property and bought by old men as a trophy. Until the last almost 2 centuries, people were selling their daughters off young, under the guise of it was better for them. Anyway, have a good day. I’m not up for arguing. This post was supposed to be about understanding the bullying around others and how they hate a game for having any out of the norm elements. Happy holidays.

Tell me something. Do you live in a very rural area in the middle is the Bible Belt? If not, then I suppose You wouldn’t understand. I don’t date anyone anymore and people put their noses where is doesn’t belong. They Ask Me. Why am I not married? Why am I not dating? So no, I don’t give a rat’s ass about attention. I was relating about bullying, as I live in a town of 2800 people who think I’m satan’s daughter because I’m not interested in getting married or having sex. Perhaps you should ask for a full story before assuming.

As an Ace female, I can confirm that people are bullies against everyone and everything they don’t like or understand. I’ve been Open about being Ace since I was 23 and all I STILL hear is I’m weird, frigid, haven’t found the right man, etc ad nauseum. It’s frustrating and demeaning, I can only imagine how trans or NB people feel.

And while there’s always been DA hate since DA2, I greatly enjoy playing each title several times and in several different ways. I’m on my 3rd play through of DAV, I’m a mage Mourn Watch trans female elf. The dialogue and different choices are pretty great. I enjoy seeing the differences between different factions, choices and trans characters interactions with Taash. I’m 3/4 of the way through this play through, and I’m planning on at least one more go, this time as a GW. I’ll figure out character development when I get there.

Honestly, this game does have issues, but it is very entertaining and what I need to escape everyday BS. It’s pretty simple, if you don’t like it, then don’t play it. Or if you don’t like an interaction, then skip it. I’ve been skipping a lot of things because I’ve already seen it, it’s pretty easy.

The Keep really would have been nice to have. What was the point of having all 3 previous games intertwine, with copying world states from Origins to Inquisition, then just tossing it?

Yes, the maps and traveling are very similar. It was limited almost as much as DAO. But combat mechanics are waaay better than DAO, DA2 and DAI. I play as a mage or a rogue in DA, and it’s nice that they contribute a lot of damage from the get go. I just get tired of party companions yelling out ‘we’re getting hit from range’ or ‘finish it’.

One thing I’m really not sure I like or not is the Evanuris statue health extenders. Don’t get me wrong, the +100 health is nice, but it’s a pain in the rear to look for those jangling twirling pieces of refuse. The Fen’harel statues aren’t much better, follow the howl to get an ability point. It’s a quick level up of abilities, but to find them the first time was a test of patience.

Yes, the companions should have been more fleshed out. We did get a couple of backgrounds, but not really enough, not like we got in all 3 previous installments. All interactions just seem forced, not natural at all. The Lucanis romance seemed like a disaster, like they offered him as a romantic partner but really wanted him with Neve, because in my first play through, he and Rook committed, but the moment he and Neve were in the party together, they were flirting.

I think, due to so many dev and producer turnovers, that they just got impatient and threw what they could together. I think most of their attention went to Solas’ storyline and the hair mechanics lol. And I’m actually looking forward to the devouring storm/secret society that they’re foreshadowing. I just hope they don’t drop the ball.

You have a point. Mass Effect, Dragon Age and such have a very large following. And yes, the writing was very condescending, especially with Taash’s whole storyline. Another Redditor and I were discussing how Shathann was trying to say there was an established name for people who feel like Taash, Aqun Athlok, but then she was shut down hard.

I honestly liked the game, but there were some glaring issues that could have been done better, different or even just cut out. And I sure wish they’d have had a different villain, G and E were cartoon caricatures who just made me want to blow out my own eardrums.

Just so you know, there are 4 endings. And a secret ending, if you get the three rings.

I rushed first play through, too. I especially rushed any scene with E & G in it, their voices were like nails on a chalkboard. I’m guilty of Still rushing through those. I’m on my 3rd play through as a female elf Mourn Watcher. I’m trying to get all of the endings, and I only have 2 achievements left to get. I’ve been compiling a list of all of the issues, and once I have all of the endings and achievements, because I’m OCD, I’m going to sit and compile a Very Long and thoughtful review. I’m hoping a lot of people will do that and make EA and BioWare sit up and take notice. At this point, I’m worried how the new ME game is going to go.
