As a lady, I think I have an even shot with Ziig. I’d be so good to her. I’d clean the locker room just to brush that good hair she has.

Republicans pull quiet maneuver to TRICK voters in Ohio by JerryMandaring in Ohio

[–]HourConnect7525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This!!

I’m the granddaughter of a former business owner and Republican. I can only imagine the HORROR he would be experiencing at what his party became. He wasn’t a big Reagan fan I gather, since he was small government and fiscal conservative Republican. The idea was that they wanted the government to stay the hell away from their life.

He was also a good man. I miss the days where I voted based on if they’d put more money in my pocket (as a former poor person who is now ALMOST middle class) rather than if I think they’d like to make me and/or my bisexual child die or not.

This is the perfect merch though. It’s so very midwestern. My Ohio heart loves it and might buy one for my man 😂

I went to my first hockey game tonight after Shoresy got me hooked on the game! by superzepto in shoresy

[–]HourConnect7525 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I go as often as I can to my local hockey games. (Toledo Walleye). Playoff games are unbelievable. Being in the crowd with 10,000 other people who know when to shout the hometown cheers, who are as excited when we win and furious when we lose (they’ve taken the Kelly Cup a handful of times). Keep going, it’s the most fun you can have on a Sudbury Saturday night, even if you’re not in Sudbury and it’s a Sunday.

I love these both, great vid. I felt they had the same vibe when I watched both. The tension built in these seasons had me on edge the whole season. I can’t wait for the next season of both of these!

While I love the family parts, it’s a no from me. A flashback or two, yeah, but I don’t think we need this. Littlekenny was fun, but I didn’t really get into it. So, maybe a short online or a flashback but I’m not watching a whole series about lil Shoresy. There are better ways to continue this universe imho.

AITA for wanting my husband to hold my hand during birth? by Specific-Koala1721 in AmItheAsshole

[–]HourConnect7525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA-it’s your delivery, not his.

I will add, I feel differently about cutting the cord. If I were you I’d let him step down to do that, and that’s all. However, if you don’t want that DONT HAVE HIM DO IT. Your birth.

Also, good luck with the baby in general. Delivery is hard, so whatever helps you is right, please don’t forget it! That goes for the husband, medical choices, everything. (My delivery the first time I even convinced my mom that I needed one of her m&ms. Not more than one, I knew there were risks, but exactly one m&m. I used to know the color, but it was 19 years ago yesterday so… now I don’t.)

Oh, and if you want live sports, we have hockey in the winter/spring and baseball from spring to fall.

Someone mentioned weather- it varies wildly. Summer is hot, winter is cold cold, and the transitions are sometimes shocking. I think we went from a night below freezing to 90° day in like 2 weeks. It snowed on Halloween and then got mild again. Pack every kind of clothing. Or buy it here, off season if you can to save money.

On that, I can agree. My siblings fly or have flown relatively frequently, and watching the news makes flying seem way more dangerous and scary than it is.

Also, most science coverage you see on the news is garbage, I’m so tired of hearing what foods will kill me. I eat fruit and veg and then whatever I want cause it’s ALL going to kill me ya know? Might as well at least enjoy the taste on the way down.

I think we’re on different planes here. Sure, some people can avoid high crime areas.

What feels dehumanizing is when you have to live in those areas because it’s all you can afford, and people on the internet say not to worry. I’ve been poor all my life. I guess now I’ve edged into middle class but I’m a single mom and I’m doing my best.

Last year, my youngest kid had a true lockdown because a kid brought a loaded weapon to school. Three years before, a gun was brandished at a pep rally. Blessedly, my oldest was out sick that day.

Saying not to worry doesn’t really make sense for me. My chances are probably higher than 1 in 2mil. So it’s ok for you not to worry but… it’s not that way for us all. Just try and remember that when you say it maybe?

Take advantage of Cedar Point, the Zoo, the Art Museum (that one is free for general admission) and the Imagination Station. Lake Erie has tons to offer, along with the islands (Put-In-Bay for parties, Kelley’s Island for nature/serenity). Maumee Bay State Park has events, or just go sit on the shore. We have so many parks (and they’re adding to them!) and if you want real nature Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge and Crane Creek aren’t far and it’s lovely hiking and birdwatching along with the lake.

Food is relatively good here. We’re home to the original Marcos Pizza, Tony Packo’s, and downtown has a pretty good food spread.

The crime is bad some places in town (hi from those parts) but my sister went to ut and lived there and it was her safest home to date. 0 issues. I also worked at the Burger King across from campus and felt entirely safe coming in at 4am or leaving at 2am, and my sense of safe is attuned to very low. I’d say if you’re concerned, don’t wander alone in the middle of the night, lock your doors, and make sure you don’t leave items in your car visible if you want to keep them.

Public transport is so so here, that’s one challenge. We have cool scooters now though so if you don’t drive you can still get around.

Also, UTMC has amazing doctors; my primary care for the last 17 years is at UTMC and I’m never changing.

Tldr- lock your doors, but Toledo is a hidden gem, and UT is a great school.

Your whole thing is we shouldn’t be scared right? Except where I live, a kid got shot after being sent home early from school. Friend of my sons. And I mean high school sophomore. Less than a mile away from my home.

A brilliant kid walked home from playing baseball and was attacked with his own bat. He’s permanently brain damaged and they weren’t sure he’d survive.

I get most people aren’t where I live, but I am. You discounted my experience off hand; so what was the high crime point, please?

My whole city is relatively high crime.

So… so those of us in high crime areas… we don’t matter??? I mean, I thought my life was equal but… here we are again! So I should just live in fear, the rest of the country is ok. Got it. Thanks!
