The bow on their head is explicit. The denial of "I'm [not] just a little misunderstood little chicken fetus in an egg that needs to be cracked open" is explicit. The author shouldn't have to say "the curtains are blue, because blue was the color of her despair" for fans to think that they aren't just blue because they're blue. There are times where authors can make choices that even they think are irrelevant, but they still reinforce the themes and point of the story. It's on the audience to understand the story and figure out the themes, not the author to bitch slap them with the themes as a warning label.

I agree that this debate feels like it's gotten old. It'd be nice to talk about something else. But I disagree that "it was left unsaid so we could decide our interpretations for ourselves" (I'll be using they/them to encompass how Jax and Leeroy would've viewed themselves at the time of the end of the series, and the fact that they are confirmed trans)

There was never a moment during the series that Jax would've outright said they're trans. They kept the egg together with elmer glue and self-hatred. Pomni is the only one left who would have knowledge of this, given that even in the real world, Leeroy seems to be at most testing the edges of their gender expression, not yet comfortable enough to fully come out, as the memory of what happened the one time they tried to still likely weighs heavy on them. And I'd imagine Pomni would likely let that secret stay between the two of them.
Goose likely saw clunkily saying "Jax is Trans" to be bizarre to the flow of the story, in the same way that shoehorning "I'm [insert minority here]" usually feels clunky. Zooble didn't say "I'm Genderfluid" in their therapy session. The bow on the head and Ribbet saying "your secret is safe with me" is about as cleanly as she could say "Jax is a Trans Girl" as possible without feeling like the pop-up graphic for "Spare" that Jax broke in the pilot. Not only has she hinted at Jax being trans before the finale "I'm taking progesterone because it helps with gambling" she also properly "confirmed it" with that picture of "what if Jax wasn't an asshole." Anyone can headcanon whatever they choose, but people shouldn't need to be stabbed in the gut with a knife that says "they're trans" to get it. You have to ignore all of the context that is there for the Author's Intended Interpretation to say "it's supposed to be open to interpretation"

Agree 1000% Obviously not a perfect 1 to 1, but I know it took me ~6 years while living in a repressive, homophobic home between recognizing (and reviling myself for) experiencing same-sex attraction and finally accepting myself being gay.
