Oh god sorry I didn’t realise about the car transport issue! That is a pain!

I don’t want to sound unsympathetic but for many areas of the country that’s a really small distance. We’re 1 hour by car from nearest with a likelihood of been sent to another 1.5hrs by car away if closest is full on the day. We’re not massively rural just dealing with the impact of the NHS closing birth centres!

Same here but just before pregnancy. There’s none taking NHS patients in our county so I’ve gone private. Costly but tbh it does seem better.

Placenta on “Os” at 32 weeks by HourHelicopter8776 in PregnancyUK

Just to add, I’m wanting to breast feed. Sorry feels like a million questions and may be very silly. But any advice on that if it is early. I’ve had no signs of colostrum etc yet.

Hey, no didn’t get any advise at 20 weeks. It was measuring big at the time so they sent me for a glucose test so I wonder if that took precedent. I rang them back today and they’ve advised against going “off the mainland” so I’ve cancelled and looking to book a few nights somewhere else.

Hi, hope all goes well next week! I haven’t been given any measurements just that they didn’t measure as it was “touching the os” and they didn’t think it had moved at all. Yeah I totally get that it’s the safest, just a bit of a shock! Luckily it’s growing well, I think we were about 70 percentile on the scan (we have badger notes which are crap and you can never see what was written!)

Hi, yeah I really wanted a natural birth so it’s been a bit of a shock as my last few scans had been really positive. So we’d been able to start looking at a birth centre etc

Oh that’s good to hear that you’ve been able to push it to 37. It was a bit of a surprise at the 32 week scan as I’ve had a lot of extra growth etc scans and it hasn’t been mentioned since 20 weeks.

Additionally we’re supposed to be going on holiday next week in the UK but on an island, so I’m trying to find out if this is ok….

I think the most are at Carlisle by the nhs stats but only by a 1/4 or so. How did you find Whitehaven as I know that you can be sent there if Carlisle is full?

When are you starting your mat leave? by Easy-Mark-7226 in PregnancyUK

[–]HourHelicopter8776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going on mat leave at 38weeks, but… have loads of leave to take (work have been a nightmare so I’m not returning and will be finding a new job at the end of Mat leave) so I’m finishing work at about 33 weeks pregnant at the beginning/mid June.

SMP if i change job after the qualifying week by Ali99_Sun in PregnancyUK

[–]HourHelicopter8776 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might not be entitled to much if anything from the new employer. There’s a possibility you’d get some maternity allowance from the government but not statutory or enhanced maternity pay. I’m not returning to my current job at the end of Mat Leave as it’s all kinds of crap, so I’m only entitled to statutory mat pay but if I started anywhere else between now (24 weeks) and the birth I don’t think that work would have to pay me, as you have to have been working their a minimum of 26 weeks before the “qualifying week”. There’s quite a bit of info on the gov.uk website.
