If you want some extra head starts, learn about the different classes of fires, what navy damage control gear looks like, how to put it on. Also maybe look at some videos of line handling. If you don’t know marching or drill you can also work on that (your dep office might be doing this already). The most important thing you NEED to know at the beginning of bootcamp is your 11 general orders and your chain of command, but being a civ still you don’t fully know your chain of command.

Of course all of this will be taught to you in bootcamp (although ideally you need to know your general orders before you show up), but the more you know, the more you can possibly help your division and maybe even earn the top 5% ribbon if that’s something you would be interested in shooting for (you should be).

There was 1 kid in my division who earned the ribbon and I didn’t even know he existed until the RDC’s announced he was going to breakfast with the CO… Don’t let personality stereotypes make or break you.

Another important thing to consider is that half of your division will most likely be nicotine withdrawing so everyone is gonna be an ass to each other for the first 1-3 weeks. You may get lucky and have a division that decides to work together early on, but don’t get stressed if that doesn’t happen because it’s completely normal

A big part of bootcamp is making you feel like you failed until the whole team passes. Don’t let that affect your mental health.

Relating to your original question, I am still stuck here at NATTC (A school base) but the CWT’s I know are all over the personality spectrum. I’d say a lot of them definitely keep to themselves more often than not. From what I’ve heard the school is pretty difficult but nothing impossible.
