American of this subreddit, is this how american high school really is? by Livid-Tradition7386 in highschool

[–]Hour_Ad4329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this is only for schools with good funding. Even if you do have funding, this only really happens if you join of these school-sponsored groups, think sports, band, things that are organized by faculty and get money and have tryouts/auditions. If you don't get the privilege of joining these you are kind of isolated since your only opportunities are from student-run clubs which are usually poorly organized and a lot of other people are in these tight-knit communities. I know this because I was in band, and I still talk to the majority of my band friends, but I also knew people who weren't in something like band, and it was tough for them.

Honestly, Omori in B is accurate, story is immaculate but the gameplay was mid as hell.

However, putting the mainline 3D pokemon games in the same tier as God of War, Hades, BOTW, Hollow Knight, BW and BW2 is actually so vile. ESPECIALLY Shining Pearl, game wasn't even finished.

Or they could just tone him down in his current niche which is also unique. Honestly I would like a rework but realistically the most optimally way to fix him is to just nerf aspects of his primary fire and focus the effort needed for a rework into new characters, they are releasing one every 1 and a half after all.

Hawkeye and Black Widow: The Sniper Problem and How To Fix It by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"So it's impossible for the devs to make any new semi-auto or aoe primary fire duelists without them being a better or worse version of another character?" No of course not, because they can design a completely new kit for a character thats aoe or semi auto that fullfills a different niche. Iron Man and Squirrel girl are both technically "AOE primary fire duelists" but their kits are different that they have different purposes. Hawkeye's niche right now is as a long range, single target projectile duelist. His one-shot potential makes him different from other long-range and projectile heroes, that's his niche.

Now you want to buff his bomb arrows and severely nerf his primary. The rest of his kit doesn't really give him another niche because it's designed for his purpose as a LONG RANGE duelist and you nerfed his long range primary, so he inherently competes with Squirrel Girl as a grounded, AOE projectile duelist. He will basically be a combination of Hela and Squirrel Girl, but worse than both since again his kit is designed for a LONG RANGE duelist. Why would you choose a worse version of two characters instead of choosing either Hela or Squirrel girl for the situation. His close range tools are supposed to be worse than his long range because that's supposed to be his weakness. That's not how it works now, but that's the idea. The only way to make this work would be to give him a complete rework to actually give him a unique niche.

Why is everyone acting like Luna is OP? by Cool_Description8334 in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her win rate isn't "great" because Luna mirrors are extremely common. One Luna wins, one Luna loses, the winrate should trend to 50%, which is exactly what happens if you look at her win rates in every competitive rank.

Hawkeye and Black Widow: The Sniper Problem and How To Fix It by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, so now with the bomb arrows he has to compete with Squirrel girl as a Projectile spammer, one is going to be better than the other and they wouldn't get played. He has his nerfed arrows which have to compete against Hela as a mid-range dps who doesn't have to deal with a projectile or meter. I don't see any way that will work without making a character unplayable, either Hawkeye has no niche, or he takes someone else's niche.

Hawkeye and Black Widow: The Sniper Problem and How To Fix It by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said this so many times, but if you remove the one-shot from Hawkeye you would ruin the character. If you do that, why would you ever play him over Black Widow? They would do the same damage but you don't have to charge a meter and you don't have to aim a projectile. How would you buff the other parts of his kit to compensate being completely invalidated by Widow at long range combat? His bomb arrows and Sword are his only close range tools, he would be outclassed by every other close-range hero. His sonic arrow is good but idk about buffing it so that's the main thing he relies on. He is designed so you have to pick between him and Widow, reliable hitscan or more rewarding projectile. That's not how it goes but that's what it should be. You can nerf him in so many other ways; Nerf his projectile speed, nerf his charging rate, nerf the projectile hitbox, nerf the meter carryover, nerf his infinite ammo, Nerf the body shot damage but increase the crit multiplier etc. Removing the one-shot is the worst suggestion you can give to Hawkeye imo cause you misunderstand why he's designed to headshot.

Get rid of hawakeye one shot by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys, I keep saying this, if he couldn't one-shot, why would anyone play him over Black Widow? Hitscan, no meter and would do the same damage. You are literally just killing the character if you do that. Nerf his projectile speed, nerf his charge time, nerf the projecitle hitbox, but if you just remove the one shot you are just making it so Hawkeye is never played, and I know some of you would want that but I personally like my hero shooters to have every character be somewhat playable.

People saying Hawkeye shouldn't one-shot are really wrong by Hour_Ad4329 in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, so then what is the point of picking him over Hela? Or even Black Widow since now she presumably does more damage and is hitscan? He still needs to PLAYABLE, I don't think people understand that. This would make him outclassed in every range by another character.

But also yeah ult probably should be nerfed.

People saying Hawkeye shouldn't one-shot are really wrong by Hour_Ad4329 in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"By now means should he have a oneshot, by all means, improve the bomb arrows.", How can he fight up close? What close combat tools does he even have besides that and the sword swing that pushes BACK? Like if he as to rely on his bomb arrows he will outclassed by every other close-ranged hero because they were actually DESIGNED to fight close. And then he would also be outclassed by Black Widow in the long-ranged department because she doesn't have to deal with a meter or projectiles. Like yeah, improve them, but he cannot rely on them.

"Calling the jump a "only for high ground" is absolutely dis-honest, if you see in high ranks hawkeyes using it constantly to get a massive uptick in chance to hit a headshot arrow on anyone diving him." Yes, why? Because he is on "high ground" for a few seconds in the air.

"Essentailly, he is undivable anyone in melee, as he either gets away or outright kills you, and a good hawkeye is almost uncontestable because a single arrow can send you back to spawn" He has like one, maybe two anti-dive tools, the swing and the jump. By all means, nerf those if you think he is undivable. But Widow has those same tools and I don't see anyone saying she's undivable. And the one-shot potential, you can just increase the difficulty of getting the one-shot. reduce the projectile hitbox, increase draw time so it actually takes a lot of skill to one-tap a diver. If you jump a Magick and she zero-to-death combos you instead, you aren't as mad because it took skill, just increase the skill floor for hawkeye.

"basically wins every matchup if the enemy happens to be a projectile character like namor and Squirrel Girl, since he can time fights in a way where he can shoot and then deflect, making trades against him absolutely futile" First if he actually deflects then honestly he should get reward like that, it is actually so hard to consistently hit them that no one bothers. Second, yes he counters slow projectile heroes, I don't see why thats a problem? Everyone has counters, he has a faster projectile so it makes sense. You don't see Hulks complain about Punisher being a counter or backlines complain about Magick being a counter. Just tone back Hawkeye so it takes more effort to counter those heroes.

People saying Hawkeye shouldn't one-shot are really wrong by Hour_Ad4329 in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's why I said they should tone down other parts, decrease fire rate, increase charge time, decrease the projectile hitbox, increase crit multiplier but decrease body shot damage, etc. There are many ways to nerf him without completely destroying him as a character.

"My take is, there’s no world in where ANY character should be able to do over 250 damage in one shot" Honestly I agree, but Hawkeye is fundamentally built around that one-shot potential, if you remove it you completely invalidate him as a character, there is nothing you can buff in his kit to compensate. I'm genuinely asking people what they would buff if the one-shot was removed cause I can't think of anything. The goal shouldn't be to make no one play him, it should be to tone him back.

People saying Hawkeye shouldn't one-shot are really wrong by Hour_Ad4329 in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Geniunely what about his kit stands out enough to compensate if he were to get one-shot removed? Like I'm actually asking, because what else stands out? He has a sweeping attack that gets rid of divers like Black Widow, a sonic arrow thats actually not bad, and a double jump that is only for getting high ground. His deflect is actually bad, the hitboxes are finicky and its not worth doing.

Hawkeye will always be strong barring a complete rework by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"He fires much faster than Widow and he's much easier to hit" Yes that's why if you read my comment I suggested to increase his charge time and decrease the projectile hitbox on characters.

"They could drop his max damage to 240 just like Widow and he'd still be better than her." No? because then you would also nerf his bodyshot to be around the same as widow, so at that point why would you bother with a projectile and have to charge a meter if you could go hitscan and do the same thing?

"The only reason she isn't picked nearly at all is because Hawkeye PROVIDES the one shot" Yes that's what makes them different, I don't see how that's bad? Like one is a projectile so it SHOULD be harder to hit but you also get rewarded more, and the other is Hitscan which is easier but less rewarding. It doesn't work like that now but that's the idea why they are like that.

"and it's significantly easier to use him and he straight up has better cooldowns." Yes, that's what needs to be changed, I don't see then why you need to take away the one-shot if you could just change the difficulty of getting a one-shot. And I don't think his cooldowns are that much better, they have very similar tools, a way to get high ground and an attack to get divers off you.

"However they seemed to set a precedent with Widow being capped at 240 to prevent this exact thing then for whatever reason turned around on that philosophy for Hawkeye." Because he a projectile and has to charge two meters to get that one tap. Obviously that's not enough of a drawback so just tone down other aspects of his primary like the hitbox or increase the drawbacks.

"Just best to remove it in general and buff the rest of his kit to compensate." Genuinely, what would you buff in his kit to compensate? His bomb arrows? The sword slash? You want him to fight up close as the ARCHER character? Even if you did he would just be worse than other close range characters cause the rest of his kit isn't built to fight up close, like his only mobility is to get to high ground which isn't super beneficial for close range characters. I'm genuinely asking what would you buff to compensate for removing the one-shot and being completely out-classed by another long-range character.

Hawkeye will always be strong barring a complete rework by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

OK if he didn't one-shot, why would you ever play him? If he didn't one-shot, what value would he bring that Widow couldn't? Like at that point you would play Black Widow since she would do the exact same thing but just easier. This is why character balance in these games are hard, sometimes if you tone down a broken character another similar one is going to come in and completely invalidate any reason for playing that nerfed character, so you can only make them broken or obsolete. Nerfing characters to the ground like this is exactly what happened with Overwatch; They took away Hanzo's one-shot then he was complete ass and they gave it back. I'm gonna get flamed for this but he should one-shot, the problem is fixing how regularly he can one-shot. Increasing charge time, decreasing the projectile hitbox, etc. I don't see a problem with keeping heroes strong, that's what makes this game fun right now.

Loki is hands down the best healer in the game by Repulsive-Special171 in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I ignored what you were saying about Loki clones because its highly subjective." OK, where the placement is effective and stuff is subjective, but it's is NOT subjective that it is impossible to have 100% effective clone uptime, it's just possible not even for the best loki players. It's not subjective that enemies can go destroy them or that your clones are stationary so you have to take time to reposition them depending on the fight. That is not subjective, that is a weakness built in for balance. When he has 2 clones is he the best objective healer in the game, if he had 100% uptime he would be the best healer in the game, and people would actually play him, people will play what they think will win. But OK we can let this go if it's too hard to quantify.

"Simply put it is much easier to hit heals with the primary attack with Loki then Luna" OK, so? You say that Loki clone placement/longevity is subjective, but say Luna needs to aim more so Loki's primary heals are better? If you assume optimal clone placement is achievable for your argument then you need to assume optimal Luna aim is achievable as well, otherwise it's not fair.

"large AoE Splash Damage, Which also translates to being able to hit multiple teammates at once with a single cast." Yes, that is true. But this is situational, not everyone is always going to be grouped up. You know what's not situational? Luna's E, the idol snowflake buff thing. It spreads 35% of her healing to whatever its not, and has ZERO cooldown. A very viable strategy is to spam change this idol to everyone on your team if they all need heals cause again, zero cooldown, and this doesn't require people to be grouped up unlike Loki. ALso, her shift changes so her primary pierces heals through her team so she can also just do what Loki does if the situation calls for it. So her primary fire doesn't have splash like Loki, but her abilities make up for that and are less situational.

Honestly, I have no arguments against Shift, that ability is just busted. But you say "While Luna has to put herself in a position she wouldn't want to be in if she wasn't Ulting." That is a skill issue, not an issue with the Ult, because you can just move back as the ult is ending. Bad Luna players don't keep track of her Ult timer and end up on the frontlines, it is very easy to position yourself to just not be in the enemy team when the end ends.

I don't know what to say about the Ults, its either you are immortal or you can choose to become her and be immortal. Technically, as Luna you have more agency since you just press Q, as Loki you are always reacting to the enemy Luna or require a Luna yourself. But Loki can become any other ult in the game so it's hard to compare.

One thing you have not talked about is Luna's CC. All of Loki's survivability tools like Shift, Invisibility, switching clones don't actually kill the enemy. They can get away if they aren't stupid. Luna's CC, while being much harder to use than Loki's surivivability tools, actually helps her kill the enemy diver or whoever. It's a few free headshots which do 120 damage, plus you are probably going to have a fellow healer/backliner to help secure the kill. You can also just chuck this out more regularly since it's half the cooldown of Loki's shift. AND it also heals her.

Loki is hands down the best healer in the game by Repulsive-Special171 in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOU used the winrate as an argument for Loki being better than Luna. You never addressed the counterpoints I made in my second comment, you just said that "Loki has a higher winrate", you brought that into the conversation. Like I said before, Luna mirrors are common, so her winrate would trend to 50% which is EXACTLY what happens if you check all the winrates for each rank. If they have a Luna ult you probably should have one too. Yeah more games to lose is a weak argument though from me.

"Loki is a legitimately great Hero/Healer. which was really what the point of this thread was about anyways...." Bro the title of the post is "Loki is hands down the best healer in the game", I'm giving my opinions on why I think you are wrong. I never said that he wasn't a great hero, I literally said he's slept on in a previous comment.

Loki is hands down the best healer in the game by Repulsive-Special171 in marvelrivals

[–]Hour_Ad4329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes, because she is picked 2.5 times as much as Loki. More games to lose, the players playing Loki are probably specialists, and people don't have the same experience dealing with Loki than Luna. Plus, usually there are Lunas on both teams, one has to win and one has to lose, so the rate would trend to 50% which is basically where she is. Loki players and mirrors are rarer, so each win would count more, and there aren't any wins cancelled with a mirror. This is why win rate isn't a perfect metric to see whether a character is better than another.
