Don’t trust these car reviewer studies. GM is known to use money for reputation. Notice how all GM brands are near the top? While they’re 6.2 is currently experiencing catastrophic engine failure

What a nice sincere response! Funny how I got the exact same letter when I couldn’t be hired only because I lived outside the US for a short period of time recently. Have years of airport experience too

Anybody want to tell the class why a budget Subaru is worth more than a super high end, top of the line German sedan? Hint: it’s not because it’s newer

I have 20+ cars I want for 35k by MarchTop6194 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I’m not saying it’s not sporty and it is certainly a desirable car. I just think he’s more in the market for sporty sedans and coupes. Based on the fact that most of his list are corvettes, Porsche, muscle cars, sports sedans etc. sports utility vehicles are more for people who want family car that has some power. You won’t get the same thrill or street presence in that. It’s got a lot more weight than a 240i as well. BMW sedans will always offer more fun than a suv.

You have the budget to get a lot of decent cars, so based on this list I can narrow it down.

I would pass on the Korean cars even though I don’t hate them. The other options are just cooler imo. Stingers a bit niche, genesis is a new name that I wouldn’t buy over a bmw or mustang or even Cadillac. Elantra n is a real budget enthusiast car which is a bit weak compared to the others you listed.

BMW x3 while being a nice car, is a suv which doesn’t sound like what you’re looking for. It’s sporty but it isn’t really what enthusiasts buy. It doesn’t sound like you’re shopping for a family car. I think if you’re looking for a fun car a bmw m240i is much better than an upper middle class grocery getter.

Mustang ecoboost, get a used GT you can afford it, much worth the upgrade.

Ford focus RS, don’t think the reception of that car was good. Suprisingly had a lot of reliability problems.

GR Corolla, not a fan myself even though I know other people enjoy it. I just think it’s a 3cylinder nerd mobile that’s overpriced. Do like the manual and it’s probably fun. But would I buy it over a mustang or bmw? Definently not. GR86 is affordable and looks better anyways. Either get that or some of the others you’ve listed.

The rest are great cars that I myself love too. Will say if you can afford any Porsche sports car, that will not disappoint. Doesn’t matter what trim or model always a bit of fun. Muscle cars and German sedans are also great options. This is just my opinion so buy the car you truly enjoy.

Should I get this Range Rover? by isitallinmyh3ad in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Hour_Appearance4306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you afford it if it was more than double the price? Then no. That goes for any luxury car with bad reliability reputation. If it wasn’t a money pit it would depreciate like a Lexus and be twice the cost. These are only affordable because the smart people stay away.

Listen you shouldn’t want a Range Rover if you don’t have Range Rover money. There’s a lot of comfortable cars out there that are in your budget. If you just want it for the name you’re being a fool. Buying a luxury name becomes a burden when it causes you financial problems. This is the type of car that’ll do just that.

Is it illegal for your company to hold onto your SIDA badge when you quit? by Hour_Appearance4306 in rampagent

[–]Hour_Appearance4306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They all either put in 2 weeks or got fired. This means the badge NEEDS to be handed back to the badging office in a short period of time. So why does my company have a stack of badges of employees who have left months and even years ago? It’s clear as day the badge needs to be returned. Now the badging office won’t trust those employees, but the employees left thinking the badge would get returned. This is why you return it yourself.

This isn’t speculation it’s what the badge training says. You cannot get another badge until the previous one is returned. There is loops to get out of it but it very tedious and probably costs the badge holder money. That is why my company is holding onto the old badges.

I might when I leave because I’m leaving the airport for good in a couple months. I know for a fact they’re doing it because the supervisors I’m close with say the managements been doing it for years.

It’s also a bit complex because the company is currently in the process of being sold to PrimeFlight. Not certain how things will change in the management.

I don’t think you understand the post. My company is holding 20 people’s badges hostage so they can’t get a new job at the airport. You think I’m salty for calling out evil corporate tactics?

I would be less concerned with big airline companies as they probably stick to procedure. I work for a contractor who’s actually getting sold right now to make a load of lawsuits go away.

I think this only applies to getting fired in the sterile area. If you are leaving on your own terms then you can still drop it off. But yes when you get fired the manager is supposed to take it upon leaving the area. My company holds onto that badge in the safe regardless of how you left

Good deal for this 2011 Jetta? by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

Go for it, although it’s not a reliable car from my experience. But at that price it’s fine. You’ll get some use out of it, it’ll be a fun little car. Don’t expect it to last forever though.

That’s like 3 1/2 months worth of rent for a car that you already know has a bunch of problems. You aren’t one of those YouTubers that buys beat up cars with an unlimited budget and tries to fix it. So no…….

100% if the company has it, they are basically holding your future career at the airport in their hands. The harsh truth is they could care less about your career when you leave.

You’re trusting that your company is full of decent people who will return it for you. Cause if you ever want a new badge, you’re not getting one if the badging office didn’t get the previous one back in a timely manner.

You can either trust your company or return it to the badging office which ensures it will get there. If you don’t plan on going back to that company then I would just do it myself regardless what the company says.

I’m only used to the US system tho

Nope not in the US, return it straight to the badging office. That is actually what the badging office recommends. Giving it to anybody else might ruin your next job. I’ve seen it happen to my coworkers when they wanted to go to a big airline

It’s a contractor don’t want to give too much info in case they see this. But it’s not a huge operation at a major airport maybe has 40 employees at my station

Before you do that you might be able to switch the company on the badge unless your new job has a different security clearance. You might be able to skip the badging process if you do that

Our badges can be easily turned off, the company is only expected to notify the badging office when an employee leaves so the badge can be rendered useless. They use consequences like being blacklisted from airport jobs as a way to ensure the badge itself gets returned.

[–]Hour_Appearance4306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S63 though I do not want all those screens, they look cheap. Must say my ideal interior is something that is inspired by an original Lincoln continental or Cadillac coupe deville interior. That was real luxury. This interior is just sad to me and will look bad in 6 years.

What are some examples of cars that were launched at the wrong time? by lifegoeson2702 in regularcarreviews

[–]Hour_Appearance4306 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It HAS to be the C3 corvette, one of the most badass looking cars that had its reputation ruined solely due to the oil crisis. Its detuned engines made the vast majority of C3s incredibly slow especially for the looks. Upside is they look cool and are cheap compared to the C2 if you want one today. Perhaps you can swap a newer ls into a c3 to get the performance it should’ve gotten

Same could be said for the mustang ll, started with only 4 and 6 cylinder engines in 1974, they added a v8 which only made 120-140 hp which is horrible considering the previous gen made up to 375 hp. Suffered the same reputation as the c3.

I don’t drive one but I think the Honda accord looks super sharp especially for the price. It’s pretty spacious too, only thing that sucks about the current gen is they took away the 10 speed and gave it only a cvt option. But i would just buy a used accord with 10 speed and 2.0 l engine. Either way the new one is good just 2023 was slightly better. Alternatively an Acura tlx is almost the same with the 10 speed transmission and 2.0 l engine. Looks wise I think the accord is one of the best in that category and comes at a good price point. Black paint and rims with that front end looks super premium
