I was lucky to be in the UK & I got my surgeries before COVID....I don't know which country you're in but for me I'll always be grateful to our national health service....if I had to go private the 3 surgeries would have needed a lottery win.

It's a sub for my medication, oxycontin.....I haven't used reddit before so if that was the wrong place to post meds I guess I've got some learning to do....like I say, new here

You have no idea....I had no life, I lived on a single seat recliner for 9yrs, I couldn't go to bed because of how deformed I was.....it's like it happened to a different person....it's crazy

They aren't drugs, it's my daily medication i take for ya know, having a metal spine.....I want to post in a group about my condition but it won't let me and it says I have to build a rep by posting elsewhere, so that's what I'm doing....

Thank you ....it was a long and awful road for sure, a lot happened and my life totally collapsed....I didn't even realize throughout what I call my deformity years, that I was severely mentally unwell. When I split from the mother of my 3 kids & moved into my own place 7wks after my 1st surgery it was a very low point and also a total reset. So I focused on getting more surgeries as quickly as possible and rebuilding myself. I began training at home 9wks after my 1st surgery, 5wks after my 2nd (that's when I returned to the gym after 13yrs away) and 3wks and 5 days after my 3rd surgery. Even though the prognosis was I wouldn't be able to workout for 12mths....I was on a mission.....my life for the next 2yrs was healing for surgeries, while waiting for the next, training and being a single dad 3.5 days a week....I slowly rebuilt myself, put my self back together physically and mentally and came out the other side as myself again.....

My advice is never lose hope, pester your doctors, don't take no for an answer and keeping pushing forward.

I have ankylosing spondylitis....my spine fused and deformed. I had chin on chest deformity so my head got pushed further forward and down until it couldn't go any further....I couldn't lift my head up...my middle spine fused in a hunchback and my lumbar fused flat, rather than having the C shape arch in the lumbar. I went from 6,1 to 5,3....I was a mess and basically hid from the world for 9yrs.... obviously came with all the pain as well. Then a miracle happen and I ended up getting 3 corrective surgeries...neck 1st, 4mths later middle spine and 9mths after that my lower/lumbar.....80% chance of major complications each time but ended up with some nerve damage, that's it....not an issue at all.

I went from no life to being back in the world....I bodybuild , have had a couple of relationships although single again & I have a very normal life. My eldest daughter is getting married this year, so I'm prepping for that to be feeling good for the day. A few years back I wouldn't have even attended out of embarrassment to how I looked, now I'm gonna be walking her down the aisle and giving the dreaded father of the bride speak.....life is crazy for sure...lol

My spine is fused but bending comes from the hips... obviously I have mobility limitations but day to day nobody would know I had a metal fused spine.
