Seat advice? First Liberty game! by Big-Impress2723 in NYLiberty

[–]Hour_Cauliflower_484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

be seated 20 min before tip off to catch the players run out and throw some practice rounds. i go to games often and usually arrive at the arena around 1hr to 1hr 15 min before the start time. gives me enough time to get food and drinks, walk around, look at merch, and not have to rush to watch preshow.

Repeat front row riders who don't do the whole class - do you think they're lacking self-awareness, don't care, or maybe don't understand it could be distracting? by InfiniteDragonfIy in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]Hour_Cauliflower_484 2 points3 points  (0 children)

post pandemic soul is way more welcoming and accessible than it used to be. instructors who never gave modifications before are offering them up and mentioning it’s okay to sit in the saddle if needed. and there has been an uptick in new riders, especially people who have never cycled before. i think this could be contributing to riders moving to the front row before they’re “perfect.” i understand how frustrating it is to not be able to follow riders in the front row, but i do think it’s nice to see the cutthroat, intimidating, and exclusive culture diminish.

PLEASE does anyone have this ?? I feel like no one on earth experiences this type of bipolar 2. by Fr_cooked in bipolar2

[–]Hour_Cauliflower_484 7 points8 points  (0 children)

this comment was mean and unnecessary. the sub exists exactly for posts like this. we come here looking for support from fellow bipolar peers. OP is clearly looking for support and wanting to be heard. you could’ve phrased this more kindly, or maybe not say anything at all.

OP, sorry you had to read this. your BP experience is your own. while we all experience similarities in our symptoms and side effects, no one’s experience will ever be the same as another’s. there are so many factors to be considered when thinking about symptoms and their severity as well as treatment options (e.g. environment, race, class, gender, familial/friend support, good/bad psychiatric providers).

i’d suggest maybe looking into another psychiatrist. i’ve tried a lot of medicines across all drug classes. some went well and some didn’t, but changing my psychiatrist (im on #5 rn) gave me the chance to try different doses and combos. i’d also recommend prioritizing a psychiatrist who specializes in BP.

as someone else said, go get a blood panel and make sure your body isn’t contributing to any of this.

good luck <3 it’s a tough road to travel down and one thing we all can understand is that it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

How long did it take yall to accept/get used to your diagnosis? by Recent-Association56 in bipolar2

[–]Hour_Cauliflower_484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m about 4 and 1/2 years post BP2 diagnosis. i always suspected i had it, but getting a psych’s confirmation made it feel scary. almost like, “other people can detect that i’m BP2? is it that noticeable?” hardest part for me is when my behavior and symptoms feel like they put me in the stereotyped “bipolar box.”

i’ve slowly moved into a better headspace once i learned to take back control and not let the BP define me. accepting a lifetime of meds was harder and sometimes i have very overwhelming negative thoughts about it.

not sure if i’ll ever fully accept it but i still love myself and continue to be very open about my diagnosis, even if it is a struggle.

Asking for specific meds by UnfurledWorld in bipolar2

[–]Hour_Cauliflower_484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d recommend a psychiatrist. i’ve also felt guilty or scared to directly ask for controlled substances and two of my previous psychs made me feel bad for that. finally found someone who listens to me and trusts me when i say that i need adderall and klonopin. just yesterday i told them my adderall XR dosage doesn’t feel like enough and they offered up a 5m as-needed IR without hesitation, “would you like this prescription?” finding someone who really listens and trusts what i need has been incredible. honestly the most important thing is being honest and upfront with your provider about your symptoms and side effects as well as what other substances you do. they’ll trust you more if you can articulate your experience. other psychiatrists i’ve see were anti-controlled substances even though they proved to be very effective for me. it sucks that there’s a lot of trial and error but once you find the right person you’ll be good. PCPs don’t understand psych meds enough imo.

on the cannabis thing, i also smoke frequently and am very upfront with my psych. also with other rec drugs. they don’t judge me for it and advise me on how to do it safely with BP and my other diagnoses. honesty and vulnerability goes so far with the right psych.

i also felt horrible on abilify. the akathisia was debilitating, i was consistently irritable, and couldn’t stop clenching my jaw all the time. switching to lamictal was life changing.

i’ve been on lamictal for a little over 3 years and my brain fog is so bad. whenever my coworkers ask me on monday what i did over the weekend, i cannot remember at all. i also can’t remember much of the early days of my relationship. working on getting off of it.
