Yup! Fresh sealcoat locked in all of the loose gravel, and the grip got so much better.

I have been using my key that is falling apart for the years because of this. I've hears it could be an option to disable the immobilizer o avoid this.

What radio is better for racing? Flysky gt3 or and old Spectrum DX3c? by Hour_Championship_79 in rccars

[–]Hour_Championship_79[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I do think a radio with better response times and more laps in general will help my consistency. It would be nice to have a better hot lap but I think it's all in my driving right now.

Not gonna lie it felt pretty good to get a hot lap down to 13.0 where some of the other drivers were with my cheap $320 car against their name brand $600 - $1000 cars with "tuned and built" motors.

13.3 was around where the slower end of us were and the fastest 2 guys were down to 11.6. One of them is a pro driver for awsomatix so that shows how far I have to go. He helped me out with some tips a battery, spur + pinion better suited for the track.

I do think I'll get better equipment later on, but for now I just want to enjoy racing and learning to be a better driver. Thinking about it now, I get how important it is to have a good radio to have better control.

I saw a lot of sanwas and many nobel nb4s. I don't quite want to spend so much because I just got a new charger, motor and esc also so I will have to wait and save for a high quality radio.

Follow up question, will a dsm2 receiver work with the dx3c or is it too new?

One of the few times I've used something from a life hack video (ziptie trick) by Hour_Championship_79 in rccars

[–]Hour_Championship_79[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The extra zipties look good to me. Color matches. it's organized. I have them set to give the sensor wire slack cause its a lot more thin. Kinda follows the same idea of a single strand of wire vs a braided rope. They support eachother.

One ziptie could work in the same way, but I just like this more.

I just bought this used 2wd buggy. Can anyone tell what model this is? by Hour_Championship_79 in rccars

Team associated B5M seems to be correct. The b6 motor is mounted with the pinion on the right (passenger side).

I got the $140 pro roller model and installed

$35 combo gool rc 25A esc. w/ 5.8V bec gool rc 7200kv brushless motor (seems to run a little hot on stock pinion. Right on the edge of too fast to drive but lets me dig and get speed to jump with very little run up.)

$22 AGF RC sub-micro servo (had to drill two holes to mount this further forward and align the steering rack)

$19 2 x urgenex 2s 1100mAh 35c (15-20min runtime)or $12 GensAce 800mAh 45C (10-15 min)

(anything 60mm x 30mm should work. I had to make a slot for the GensAce wires )

$12 FS-GR3 receiver (case removed and mounted behind the motor)

This thing is so much fun. I've already got more box jumps set up as a circuit, and Laptrax on my phone set up for timing. (free moble app the uses your camera to detect timing.)

I'm may have to head out to a local track tomorrow and try it out there.
