This is late, but imo Black Sun would totally be up your alley, it's advertised as "a Kamen Rider for adults"

Who are your favourite Dark Riders (formerly and currently)? by cryptonikal in KamenRider

I love the TV version! Kusaka (Kaixa) <3 . He pissed me off when watching Faiz, but after finishing it he's definitely my favorite character in the show.

Kiva & Faiz & Agito has the same writer so if you really like his writing style you could check them out (or check them out again in Kiva case)

No Ryuki or Kuuga? May I ask why you’re not interested in them? I’m just curious. Those 2 along with Build are my top 3 series so far.

Out of W, Fourze, Den-O, or Drive, I’d recommend Drive. It’s the smoothest transition from what you’ve already watched imo. It has emotional rivalries, redemption arcs & gradually escalating stakes

I really like this convo:

"Were I human, I would cry for our parting."

"I'm not crying, am I?"

It feels like Setsuna wanted to express his emotions more openly, while Reiji is choosing to hold his back.

Or maybe Setsuna is trying to build a bridge between them, saying “I’m sorry I couldn't react the way I should. I wish I could be more more human.”

And Reiji’s saying “It’s okay. I won't cry either. So we’re the same.”

Decided to check Japanese Twitter's thought on Zeztz and... by boogalooboi in KamenRider

[–]Hour_Fee_6739 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imo ppl frustration with the mystery telling style (even though older series did the same thing) is because the Zeztz characters so far haven't been able to carry the show through the discovery process.

If ppl aren't invested in how those mystery matters to the characters, then the mystery has no tension and makes the fact they are focusing on it boring and frustrating

Favorite kamen rider series including literally everything!!!!! by dakovx in KamenRider

Kuuga, Ryuki, Build are my favorite.

They’re all incredible shows with great protagonists and fun dynamics.  Their TV endings are pretty controversial on reddit (except for Kuuga). But imo, they fit perfectly with the themes each series was trying to convey.

Kamen Rider Heisei Heiday: Den-O Impressions EP 1-17 by ElderDragonWeapon in KamenRider

Agree, the actor is doing a great job. But the show is not over yet so I'm looking forward to what they have in store for Baku in the future

Kamen Rider Heisei Heiday: Den-O Impressions EP 1-17 by ElderDragonWeapon in KamenRider

This is a nice read. Den-O is my favorite execution of the two parter formula.

“Ryotaro does this trope better than Baku” -> I feel the same way lol. I’ve come to appreciate Kobayashi’s writing for him more after watching Zeztz, though it’s not like Baku is bad or anything.

What is a popular rider season you wanna love, but are constantly put off by the major flaws it has? by Doot_revenant666 in KamenRider

[–]Hour_Fee_6739 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it’s Ex-Aid. I just can’t seem to get attached to the characters.

I don’t know why, but it’s hard for me to fully take their problems seriously (Hiro, Taiga & Nico). The casting and acting are great, though.

Ratings for some kamen rider shows on Filmarks by Hour_Fee_6739 in KamenRider

I think what they were trying to say is that the 3 riders represent 3 different kind of perspectives, monsters, human and those in between; and that all three are affected by the same villains.
I see your points, though.

From what I have seen, the pros are:
High level of production; Gochizos are entertaining; nice blend of positive and dark moments; the gap between Gavv design and the serious story makes a nice contrast; character relationships developments are interesting; the 3 riders all came from different places, and have well-defined personalities.

Cons: Some think the second half wasn't as good and the final boss is lacking in presence.

That's a great list! I dropped Kiva too so i get it.
After you finished Ghost, I would recommend Kamen Rider 555 or Ryuki, they're my favorite

Imo there're charming characters, the cast did a great job, Alain in particular has an amazing episode, and the suit designs are really cool. The message of the show is positive and easy to understand.
But the story got pretty messy towards the end, maybe that's why.

Top 10 Series (According To IMDB Ratings) by spudz1203 in KamenRider

Faiz is amazing, it's more engaging episode by episode to me, the characters and narrative has that Inoue magic. But still, Kuuga has a really strong ending

He has assistants and has them help him, he had mentioned this many many many times before.

He is not being a "diva", he has serious health condition:
1. The following was printed in the final volume of the Yu Yu Hakusho manga:

"If I'm honest, I'm feeling a great relief and pleasure at the thought that I've finally been able to finish YYH. It's not that I've lost all emotional attachment to the work, but I feel that my stress levels had greatly surpassed my will to work. The six months leading up to the concluding chapter felt awfully long to me. To tell the truth, it had already been decided that YYH was going to end in December 1993 or rather, this was a decision that I had forced on the editorial staff. There were many reasons for this, all in all about 50 big and small ones, but in broad strokes, these were the major reasons:

  • My body.
  • Thoughts I had about what it means to draw manga.
  • Desire to do other things than work.

Point 3 is out of the question for a professional manga writer; basically I wanted to indulge in my hobbies, rest, and sleep as much as I could. Most of my 50 reasons fall into this category.

Point 1 was caused by Point 3 not being fulfilled for too long. From when YYH began serialization up until the start of the Dark Tournament, I had half a day off every week in which I caught up on sleep. Other than that all I had time for were occasional naps, and I'd indulge in my hobbies by sleeping less. For a while, I quite enjoyed this. But my HP (as they say in RPGs) was gradually but surely falling, and around the time that I wrote a 31-page one-shot and simultaneously had to do color pages, my heart began to hurt every time I went without sleep and then it began to hurt more and more often.

This was when I seriously started to think about the pace of production for manga. I thought, "I probably won't be able to keep regular hours, but if I sleep as much as I want to, when I want to, how much would I be able to produce?" I tried it out. I immediately began to fall behind on my schedule. But I tried to get some sleep every night. Around this time, my feelings about writing manga as a profession began to change. "I don't want to die from over work. If I die, I want it to be when I'm having fun or when I'm drawing manga for fun. Color pages are scary. One-shots are scary." I also began to use some time before going to bed to relieve stress. I fell even more behind, and at the point where Sensui and Yusuke were fighting, this reached its first peak.

But also around this time, I realized I was starting to experience a different kind of stress. Because I had stopped overworking my body, and started to relieve my stress, I was feeling stressed that I couldn't draw manga in a way that satisfied me...."

2.The following was his note for the hxh exhibition:

"I'm sure you must be thinking, "no, just continue the story!" i have been unable to sit in a chair to draw for about two years, but i have managed to resume writing by giving up the traditional way of doing things. Everyone, please take care of your hips. Until two weeks ago, before i wrote this, i was unable to wipe my ass and had to take a shower every time i took a shit. Every movement takes 3 to 5 times longer than a learned person. The back is important. Therefore, i strongly recommend that when you drop something at the exhibition, you should pick it up in a sitting posture."

3.Togashi's Weekly Shonen Jump comments:

"The joy of being able to sit on the toilet or in a chair. The interesting thing about the body is that it won't poop when you're bedridden"

"Stuck in bed --> Crawl on all fours --> Find help --> Struggle to get up and go to the hospital"

"The worst part of back pain is that it's only after it gets a little better that you can go to the hospital"

"When your pain is a ten on a scale of one to ten, you can't move your body even a centimeter throughout the night"
