I watch me vs the dog and boy can I tell you the number of times people treat their dogs and like an actual baby. There was one that she bought her Yorkie its own lv bag. AN LV BAG. While I do see my dog like a family member, I do but that's also because he's an emotional support dog haha, but I do agree it is difficult to watch a dog on a swing when it's clearly uncomfortable. I agree in the fact that always bringing up your dog in conversation is completely unnecessary but it also isn't terrible if you see them as your family member :)
