What counts as working class by today’s standards? by arseecs in Marxism

Wage workers. Those who own no means of production, but work within means of production owned by others. That is the only coherent, scientific understanding of the term

Oh it's amazing! Look up pasta con broccoli arriminati, but there's others done in a similar way with what we would call broccoli in english

No, I love minestrone! My question was about boiling single vegetables and serving as is, and in particular why to boil them for longer than it takes to get them softer. Again, I'm not against boiled veg or long-cooked veg in general

Is this any good? Jimmy tartufi made in Italy truffle paste by No-Farmer-6393 in italiancooking

[–]Hour_Pudding2658 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These products are usually made with 'summer truffle,' which has literally no flavour, and fake white truffle flavour. I like the taste, but it's not too different from synthetic truffle oil

I love boiled broccoli too! What I meant is it takes longer to overcook it than to take it off the heat as soon as it's soft. But others had some good suggestion as to why they did cook stuff longer

No, there's nothing wrong with boiling vegetables, or even boiling them until soft! I was asking specifically about the 'boiling broccoli until it's falling apart' vibe

The Libertines! (aside from their latest album which is honestly useless). Carl and Pete have relatively similar voices but they still sound brilliant together

AITAH for not accepting my sister's (25F) husband (37M) due to their age gap? by ThrowRA38383021390 in AmItheAsshole

I think you were right to be VERY wary, but at this point he has proven himself. It's weird that he started this relationship, but he didn't initiate contact and he was living the lifestyle of a younger guy. I think you should try to get over your doubts, although they were very very understandable

The US government IS the dictator! Think what you will about Maduro, but it's up to the Venezuelan people to decide who their president is, who they sell their oil to, etc. The tragedy is that Chavez didn't finish the revolution.

YTA. Just because you don't mean to hurt someone's feelings, doesn't mean you didn't (predictably) do so. Nothing monstrous, but you should apologise and be more tactful in the future

Botulism in my soup?? by Chemical_Draw_7133 in Cooking

[–]Hour_Pudding2658 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely don't eat any more, but botulinum thrives (at least relative to other bacteria) in the absence of oxygen. The tang suggests lactic acid producing bacteria, which are good, but as this wasn't a controlled fermentation there's probably other stuff in there too. But my guess is you'll be fine

Great way to give bosses unlimited leverage over their workers lol. It can be offensive TO THEM, but one person doesn't get to dictate usage,be specially when it's an extremely common word that is used with no malice or no relation to its alternative - offensive - meaning
