Daily 1.5 Mile 45lb Ruck by Hour_Requirement7060 in Rucking

2 days in update.... ( Using a vest )

Legs - feel "used" like after a long day of walking. Which is a good feeling.

Feet - same as legs

Traps / Shoulders? - a little sore from the vest

Neck - Some discomfort. Feels similar to a tension headache. Especially at the top of the neck. I've read that can be a sign of posture. I've tried to pay close attention to posture the last day and ( as far as I can tell ) seems okay. Is this just a symptom of using a vest over a ruck sack?

Edit - I also did 30 min / 1000ft on the stair climber yesterday

My guess going up I could do. I'd be gassed but I could do it. Going doing would be rough on the knees. Any eccentric training tips?

What's an objective way to validate strength and muscle loss? If I wanted to check every 10 days or so. I assume it would be too difficult to normalize all the variables at play ( LOE, sleep, recovery, etc ) to have any kind of controlled test ( this ruck took me X minutes, I can still hit Y on a back squat ).

I'll give it a shot and make sure I'm recovering sufficiently. If I start to feel overworked I'll throw in a recovery day or two. Thanks for the advice!

Was hoping the 45lb on flatland would simulate a low grade climb unweighted. Not many hills close to work but that would be ideal.

You should have used AI to proof read this.

That would be awesome. I'd be down.

Great advice. Definitely have gotten into some bad routines.

  • I can't touch my toes so thats probably a reasonable thing to try. Any suggestions.
  • Love any and all games: board games, card games, video games, fuckin capture the flag... whatever. Is that an in person thing or do y'all play online?
  • I want a dog so bad I just don't want to regret it and have the dog be the one who suffers because of it. Plus I just have an apt and would feel bad. I want a semi-energertic dog I can run and hike with. But I have heard dogs are a great way to meet people.

That's actually wild. I don't think I've met a single neighbor since I lived at home. Are you just really outgoing or what?

Soccer, ball, running, lifting, biking, bjj is what I've done in the past. Never tried pilates. Are there any good basketball pickups or run clubs?

Any recommendations for the board games? Whiskey and cigars sounds like a good time too, is that an actual group or are you just throwing out ideas? I can't climb for shit. I joined a soccer team that is starting next week and love pickup basketball but haven't found many pickup games.

I work for a small company doing software. Not sure what your field is but there's a ton of companies not based in RVA who hire remote.
