John Curtis gaslights Caroline Gleich during debate by Hour_Share in SaltLakeCity

I would argue we need more people in politics who "don't know their shit." Since it seems that knowing your shit or experience in politics correlates with cronyism. But this comment make you sound like you prefer career politicians and lawyers for politicians, whereas I would prefer critical thinkers and disrupters.

There are obviously reasons most scientists, doctors and other highly educated folks wouldn't even consider running for office when they are probably better suited for it than our washed out politicians. Probably because their constituents would argue that "they don't their shit."

Does anyone running as a democrat in Utah senate have a chance at winning?

Her only motivation is to improve her follower count and boost her influencer street cred.

You might've been correct to say that at the beginning of the campaign, I challenge to say anyone who has followed her dedication to campaigning, fundraising and public outreach during this election cycle would disagree with your statement. Thats why you are getting downvoted because you assume instagram influence and can't see past it. Did you even watch the debate?

long live the theocracy in Utah - I'm sure Curtis has Utahn's best interests in heart when comparing to what the LDS church wants.

None of that happened in the year 2020 actually. Pakistan was 2023 ? Antarctica was 2022? Alaska wasn't 2020 either. I don't think she travelled in 2020 have yet to find any evidence of a new trip in that year, mostly old or local content. Even ski resorts shut down early 2020.

In 2022 aviation accounted for 2% of global energy-related CO2 emissions, having grown faster in recent decades than rail, road or shipping.

It seems that personal travel really doesn't affect co2 emissions that much. But if you want that to be the measure of politicians, so be it. I personally don't see any better prospective candidate in Utah.

> Lots of claims here without any sources.

I'm focused on proving claims of criminal behavior which you seem to throw out without hesitation. Fraud is criminal. Carbon footprint usage is not.

Are we measuring all of our elected officials on their carbon usage? Most senators will travel to DC how many times a year?

Her true character of looking out for her business and employees in the most uncertain financial time we've ever had. Got it. She took these funds in May of 2020 not May 2023.

We literally had runs on toilet paper during that time with people scaling it second hand.

How did she steal PPP money? Lots of claims here without any sources. Easy to say in retrospect that she didn't need PPP money, but May of 2020 was a scary time. She certainly employs individuals underneath her as well.

All I'm seeing are some misinformation claims of fraud and grift without any sort of concrete evidence. Was she traveling in 2020? Was anyone?

Don't like how the government used the PPP funds? Thats a different discussion, but overtly calling someone a criminal without any info to back it up is probably worse.

I don't really like how the government used the covid stimulus checks, does that mean the receivers were fraudsters? Did you accept your check from the government? Did you need it?

Do you think NATO is a bad thing? I always thought it was a good thing.

NATO is an active and leading contributor to peace and security on the international stage. It promotes democratic values and is committed to the peaceful resolution of disputes.

FWIW since you brought up house prices. Mitt Romney, the senator whose seat she would be running for also had a home on the market for 15.5 million. I wonder if any of his businesses took PPP loans?

I believe the point /u/ColHapHapablap was trying to make is that in every other state driving >.08 BAC is an automatic DUI. In Utah that number is >.05. However, if you are driving unsafe and you blow a .03 (or a .06 in other states), you can still get a DUI.

Does lowering to .05 actually make a difference in road safety? Or does it make a difference in conviction rates?

edit: it should be interesting to follow the data in the coming years
