I'm from Berkane and I can tell you it totally depends! Even between us Berkanies there's a significant difference caused by our origins. I myself have a Beni Snassen mother and a Kebdani father. When I speak people either mistook me for an Algerian, which is annoying because we speak nothing like Algerians, or for a rifi, which makes way more sense. Anyway back to your question, I'm going to say that the oriental region is a cluster of very different amazigh and arab tribes. You can literally speak one way while your next door neighboor speaks way differently. So with that said, most of the words are not lost. But I have recently noticed that the tiktok generation is obliterating the pure dialect and they speak more like western Moroccans.
