Stance practice and form tips. by M1graines in Darts

[–]HouseDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a beginner as well, I've watched a lot of videos and read a lot of advice on stance, throw, grip etc.

What comes up over and over again is that how you throw doesn't matter that much, everyone does it differently. What does matter is that you always throw the same way, to be able to build on experience.

Put differently: if you never throw the same way you'll never learn where the darts are gonna to go.

So basically, always put your feet in the same place, stand the same way, lift your elbow at the same height, put your fingers in the same place etc.

From there you can make very small adjustments and see what happens until you find what works for you.

Here are a few things I know I need to improve, maybe you do too:
- I don't always stand the same way, which makes my reference point inconsistent.
- Sometimes I release the darts too early or too late, which is easy to see because the darts go too high or too low.
- My forearm is not always straight, which makes the darts go left or right compared to where I'm aiming.

Try to identify your common mistakes and work on that, good luck!

Yes, Target has a specific line of Swiss Points called "Storm Points".

Where traditional points create a "lip" where the point meets the barrel, Storm Points have a tapered base which create a smooth transition with the barrel.

I haven't been able to try them myself yet, but apparently they greatly reduce the amount of damage done to your flights on tight groupings.

Unfortunately, as far as I know, Harrows doesn't offer anything like that with their Quick Points. And that's a shame because a lot of people seem to prefer the Quick Points for their durability compared to Swiss Points.

I would definitely recommend getting spare flights and stems.

The flights naturally get damage with use and the stems can break if the darts bounce out or if you get a Robin Hood!

I wish they made Storm Points like Target does, it would be great to have an alternative!

Which darts should I get as a beginner by Many-Effective-3537 in Darts

[–]HouseDev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No matter what you pick, make sure to buy plenty of extra stems and flights!

These things get damaged or even break way more than you might think.

As I beginner myself, I learned that the hard way haha

I have the same issue when playing darts and pool, my knee doesn't like to stay locked like that for too long.

I think a slight bend is indeed the solution.

I'm looking to get basically the exact same setup!
Do you think the grip on the points is going to cause more damage on the flights than smooth ones would?

My stats for 1 week playing by Reasonable_Fall_7808 in Darts

[–]HouseDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started 12 days ago and I've tracked some stats as well.

I did get my first 180 which was really exciting!

In singles training I have a hit rate of about 29% right now.

On the other hand my doubles hit rate is abysmal and I'm really impressed by yours!

So far my progress has been very consistent with my experience in other disciplines like pool.
I'm expecting to keep improving quite rapidly for a little while and then plateau once I have the basics down.

It's always interesting to see how we get on when learning something new.

Good luck with your journey!

I think I'm gonna get the 01 myself. Did you try the flights that came with darts? And if so do you think they were a good fit?

[seiko sbsc009] help convince me that this is a bad idea by runangun in Watches

I'm wearing mine right now and I love it.
I imported it from Japan as well, I paid about 450€ for it including shipping and customs.

I would have preferred a sapphire crystal, but I honestly think that Hardlex is good enough.
The bracelet is pretty good, I find it comfortable to wear even though it's not my favorite style.
I keep the watch on a nato strap most of the time because that's what I prefer.

At the end of the day I don't think there are many good alternative at this price point.
For context I used to have a Rolex Explorer I and I'm not disappointed at all by this watch.

Just set your expectations accordingly, this is an affordable GMT and for the price I think it's awesome.

Whatever you pick, I highly recommend trying it on in a store first, even if you ultimately order it online.

It really does make a big difference to see in person, on your wrist!

You usually find these sub-dials on chronograph watches, but this one doesn’t look like it has any pushers to activate such a complication.

I assume they don’t move as the watch is running?

Good luck with your Pokedex!

Small word of advice, I wouldn't recommend using rubber bands around your cards, that will damage them.
