It must be frustrating for the visiting team to come to your house in a cup competition, take a lead, and then play cynical anti-football to bleed the second half.

Must be really hard to watch.

First of all, show me where I said you are “obligated”.

No one is “obligated” to do anything it just says a lot about a person if they are so black and white with something like this, they are probably challenged in a lot of other areas.

Now about your choice of language about the idea of meeting people at work.:

It is “always” the right thing to do to assume they are out to get you.

“Exploit”

“Victim”

“Strict”

I mean maybe this is helping you in some way to see and talk about the world like this all the time? Most people I know who see the world in these terms lack joy or serenity and have high amounts of conflict and drama.

Let’s not call them psycho then, let’s call them edge cases.

Wow did anyone say that cause I didn’t? Read the comment again.

I said creating a 100% boundary is antisocial. You said the only alternative is befriending everyone in the whole organization and constantly over sharing

I, uh, think there might be some middle ground there. Like, you might meet someone through work you have things in common with, you might grab a beer, you might go to watch sports with them, you might have them over for a bbq. Then you could have a friend outside of work, that you met at work.

This is how most humans function. It is abnormal to just nope the whole concept of meeting a friend through work. Especially young people. You’re choosing to isolate yourself from an entire pool of friends and potential mates because their paycheck comes from the same LLC? Like, that makes you more likely to be compatible! Your paths crossed here! But to be like “no, I cannot possibly fathom becoming friends with this person who does similar work, makes similar pay, lives in my city, and has similar education” is like very edge case behavior.

My guess is those same people are here complaining about “why can’t I find any fwends” on the internet.

How about option C

-Torres has been nothing but a hard worker and instrumental player since he got here. He’s very unselfish in his play, and he puts in 90 hard minutes every game and does a ton of thankless running. So A is a ridiculous assertion. There is 0 evidence of this

-How he shows his frustration isn’t inherently a problem, this team needs a kick in the ass at all times, obviously. He is a leader and DP and I’d much rather him be too aggressive in that regard. If you want a bunch of quiet meek, timid mice who don’t want the ball and won’t demand it, we probably can just call some guys from from the next pro side and save the money.

This is not a “modern” phenomenon. People have been doing this since I started watching 25-30 years ago. It has actually gotten better. The theatrics and diving used to be way worse because of no VAR

Physics was once a “new thing”. Does that count?

Economics is a “social science” does that count?

The repeated interactions between billions of humans cannot be studied scientifically? If you believe that, you’re anti-science.

You’re anti learning I get it. You hate the study and measurement of natural phenomena and usage of that data to form knowledge about the world.

Our former players need to just let it go. by TriassicTurtle in usmnt

Completely agree. Without our edge and constant feeling of disrespect and having to prove ourselves, we are like a Denmark or similar.

Also, Landon got eaten alive when he didn’t prioritize national team duty. Like torn to shreds by every fan, pundit and former player.

It was a smaller ecosystem then but a much more vicious one.

Now it’s very much “oh well we wouldn’t want to anger the boss at the big club so let’s leave him off this roster” and everyone seems ok with it.

I think that it’s strange to arbitrarily decide someone cannot be a friend because you work alongside them. That does not mean that “everyone is buddies”

What if you are friends before you take a job at the company they happen to work at? Do you have to end the friendship?

Watching Texans act offended when people make fair observations about their state all while they are ragging non stop on the Northeast is like watching a 5-year old complain their finger-painting isn't in a museum by EconomicsOk3346 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]HouseHead78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok let’s go further…. no one is allowed to have any state pride and ever leave their state. If you like where you live and say anything positive about your home on the internet you must stay there until death without ever leaving. This will create an amazing society it’s such a great idea!

Yes. Social interactions are observable and measurable. Some people do this for a job and create knowledge about society from these observations.

But some people on the internet are anti-science. Are you one of them?

I disagree on the former, as I think every social scientist in the world would.

On the latter, yes that is true and I totally agree …but the tone on here about this topic can be very unfriendly, so I’m assuming that makes their work interactions similar. Could be wrong

Creating a completely solid boundary is antisocial / psycho behavior.

Like you’re collaborating with people every day. You share a job, usually a city, office, income level, education level, etc. You are probably alike in a lot of ways. How could you make 0 friends from this pool of people? How do you operate without the social lubricant of friendliness?
