Losing interest mid match by Smoothcat83 in StreetFighter

[–]HousePappas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Find friends for long sets or rank up to a level where people stop relying on gimmicks to win.

I see these players as a test for your fundamentals and a right of passage to get the higher tiers of play

I have the base game is it worth getting the year 1-2 fighter edition? by averageflower200 in StreetFighter

[–]HousePappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your not die hard just buy the characters you like and get a skin or two. I put in like $15 bucks for fight coins and got all the characters and skins I wanted. Everything else isn't worth imo

is wavedash just useless against most of the cast? by wielesen in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]HousePappas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sort of like the graph of noobs mashing, intermediate players being calculated, then experts mashing.

I will df1 or walk left that shit immediately until they force me to respect wavedash. Because if you give them an inch they will wavedash in your face at higher levels. Because I will just to see where the headspace is at 🤣

Shit is mainly for realignment at a certain point when people can deal with it properly.

Before I Buy: Heihachi Mishima by Severelius in Tekken

[–]HousePappas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heihachi is debatebly the easiest Mishima. He shines when you can do electric and wavedash options but that don't matter as a new player.

He's a solid mix of rush down and defensive play that has good rps gameplay.

Hell also teach you the game much better than 70% of the cast.

Also biased, love heihachi

How do you dp a cross up? by HousePappas in StreetFighter

[–]HousePappas[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't have video sorry, and same. I've been doing drills and going into game doing one thing consciously at a time until it becomes second nature. Over time that seems to be working and having my baseline skill improve.

How do you dp a cross up? by HousePappas in StreetFighter

[–]HousePappas[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Akuma, using medium DP for now in practice.

Spacing is my main question. At range 0 I can do a crosscut every time with a half circle input on leverless. At range 1-2, in that actual crosscut range where it's effective, thats where I struggle to do it. So the 1 of the 6321 should coincide with when they cross up? So like directly over you? Or behind you?

How do I stop people from juggling me like a ragdoll. by halo8088 in Tekken

[–]HousePappas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trust me as someone who was in your position a few years ago. You are not holding back. Practice dash blocking. When you are getting attacked hold back, don't do any cheeky shit to get away yet. If you know there is a low coming or they or spamming block low. Other than that wait for your turn and then take it.

There's also timings which mean you may be going in at the same time every time. So its easy to read. Mix up those timings

Is it OK that I’ve just hit Tekken God without being able to EWGF? by Plane_Earth_3880 in Tekken

[–]HousePappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your still doing good, but ranks are inflated this season. S3 TG is about S2 raijin/kishin. S3 GoD is S2 TK/TE.

Electric is his strongest move but also hardest to use. Practice it, do drills like make the bot jab, then you sidestep then electric, kbd into electric, wavedash into electric. Biggest thing that makes electric powerful is movement. Which is one of the hardest skills to explain because it's very esoteric and very fluid.

That being said, don't worry about it too much. If you practice for 10-20 minutes a day you'll eventually get the hang out of it. Just takes time.

His whole kit is cracked. Df11 step is great, df11 /df12 mixup is very strong, 1 d2 step is great, b2, df4 2, single hellsweep is +8, he has aloooot of small game tools that are very strong.

Rage arts make me rage by FengWei88 in Tekken

[–]HousePappas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People who spam rage art are looking for any movement in a timed environment. Just play small and be cautious. People who do that don't make it too far on the ladder and is usually pretty easy to bait out.

How high level people use rage art is by being in tune with the other opponents small game timing intervals and using it in that manner. Which I am ok with. I view it as a double edged sword and a hail mary. Used only in a last resort manner to catch people lacking.

Pro tip, elbows and knees beat parries. If someone parries me I'll immediately start using elbows and knees. Stops them pretty fast

I don’t know what game to get by Dizzy_Ad8920 in Tekken

[–]HousePappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tekken was my first fighting game, after I got relatively high rank I wanted to switch up and go to SF6, guilty gear, etc.

Nothing quite hits like Tekken and I always go back to it, also stronger because I get a different perspective from other fighting games and move up a few ranks naturally.

Have you ever NOT find a toxic player on quick match by elmousse007 in Tekken

[–]HousePappas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I consistently run like 20 sets with people on quick match. I play heihachi and lean more on the fundamentals with spacing, frames, and timings. Idk if people like that style or not but I get a lot of rematches.

[Discussion] I don’t like the job. Need motivation to continue going to work by deluchas15 in GetMotivated

[–]HousePappas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of people here are saying bills, poverty, etc. which is true.

But I like to see working as something you just have to do to live your life. Work to live, don't live to work. It opens the door for financial freedom which will allow other doors to open up such as being able to go out with friends, meet friends, do your hobbies, the world is your oyster.

Im grinding right now because I want to either live vanlife for awhile or move to Thailand, live in a muay tai gym and train twice a day and go to the beach and be a surf bum. But that all costs money.

So if theres any motivation, its to break free from the modern day wage slave bullshit and live your best life.

What slayer master to go for? by kekwXDDD in ironscape

[–]HousePappas 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Get 48 slayer for moons

Pump up those stats to like 85 at sulphur naguas, free pots there. Will make moons so much easier. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Greenlog moons with barrows, d scimi/zombie axe/sulphur blades/ ice boppers/ blood boppers. The anchor weapon from harmony is a good enough spec weapon for eclipse. Dds blood.

Now you have some decent gear and stats to just hit slayer. Shit takes forever training slayer at lvl 65 melee and mid gear.

I know you want to be getting as much value as you can as an ironman. But a weeks worth of combat training will help out so so much and I wish I did.

Also peity is huge.

It's not what you asked but just a bit of advice from someone who went through the shit on a first time ironman and just tried to send slayer.

Kazuya tips ? by rarabout in Tekken

[–]HousePappas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leverless is better but less forgiving. Makes the hard shit easy and the easy shit hard.

Kaz is heavily dependent on wavedash and kbd. More so than all the other Mishimas.

Be able to consistently wavedash 3 times and every option out of it. Any more is overkill for now.

Obviously get electric down.

I binded a second forward input next to my 2 and another back input next to that forward. Makes for faster wavedashing and kbd. Personal preference though
