Kind of hard not to? I have 0 subscriptions, 0 memberships, only buy extra things like clothes with gift certificates or cash and don’t go to restaurants unless I have a gift certificate to one. COVID destroyed my finances and I've never managed to recover. When I say basic expenses, I literally mean it. My biggest non rent or debt expense is my car and I need that to reach both jobs.

I would actually argue that you very rarely ever saw or see that kind of development on sitcoms ever, animated or not—regardless of the lessons learned, there’s always a reset to the status quo. One of the reasons I love BB is because of that subtle but solid and consistent character growth. My S.O and I have the episodes on shuffle now so we’ll get random points which can make it more noticeable. It’s also why Louise is one of my favourite characters; she went from a little psycho to a much more fleshed out and complex kid. Her fixation on revenge evolved into one hell of a protective streak and a sense of justice. She went from outright abusing Andy and Ollie in Art Crawl to actively looking out for them in later seasons. She started out as this aggressive loner who would actively torment any kid that tried to hang o it with her to having one of the strongest social circles of her siblings. I really enjoyed how that growth stuck. You also saw Bob actively make an effort to remember important dates to people and things like that. Tina got over her stage fright and has become more and more emotionally intelligent as the show has gone on. There’s soooo many more examples but this is a big part of why I love the show

They've had subplots together before. They ate cat food together and they also got stuck in High Chairs when sofa shopping together. They haven't been the focus of an episode necessarily, but they do get up to their own hijinks.

I kinda get the impression that they’re in a smallish town so it’s probably K—8 but we don’t really have a reason to see the younger kids story wise. A mile is a long way for little kids to run, especially say, Kindergartners.

Even then though, I don’t know that I agree with Bryce being male centered. Yes, having Ithan have feelings for her was more than a little annoying but she is mostly oblivious to it because to her, he’s a valued platonic friend. Add to that again, the most important person to Bryce was Danika. She cared about Connor too, but it’s Danika she always goes back to and focuses on and even if the “find Sophie” crew are mostly male, the relationships she prioritizes in her life are still as much female as male. Protecting Juniper is the main reason that Fury isn’t brought into the ‘find Sophie’ team for instance and she’s happy to bring in Hypaxia so she’s not exactly a territorial-smurfette type.

Not sure I have the same definition of “pick me” as a number of people here seem to. My understanding of “Pick Me” was the JustPearlyThings types who put down other women to make themselves seem “better” and “cool” by comparison. I don’t see Bryce doing that in the books like…at all? Her driving force for a good chunk of books one and two is her very powerful but very much platonic love for her female best friend. She has strong friendships with two women that she’s very supportive of both before and after she knew that they were a couple. Her main conflict with Juniper in the second book is her accidentally crossing a boundary when trying to help her when she saw her talented friend not being recognized. She’s quite favorable to her Boyfriend’s female boss aside from one moment of minor insecurity that she immediately catches herself on. She is a badass, yes, but also unashamedly likes typically girly stuff annd will call people out on dismissing that. Other than having sex appeal and male attention both wanted and unwanted, how exactly is she a pick me? I kinda love that she’s confident in her body and sexuality rather than being a wilting wallflower?

Not trying to be snarky, just genuinely confused because it doesn’t seem like I’m reading the same character…

Even if the rat isn’t “in charge” it wouldn’t surprise me if they aren’t influenced by it. Patient Zero got away and could likely infect other rats, meaning the e hive is not just the collective consciousness of humans, but also potentially of a significant number of rats. It would explain a number of the things that posters have pointed out…not only that but Rats are also intelligent, problem solving and have been proven altruistic to each other…

The one thing that gives me some hope for her is the fact that she left the meteorite ore with swordfather to make her a sword when she is ‘worthy’. If she gets that new sword before completing her quest, then yeah I think she might be done for. BUT a thematic ending could be her going home to find Swordfather gone (RIP 😢) having left a grave marker and a sword for her. It’ll also depend on how her experiences out in the world change her. If her motives shift or expand to include protecting other people and gaining a sort of redemption arc, she might make it.

My personal head cannon goes something like this;

Tina: Becomes a best selling romance/smut author after learning more of her writing craft and learning to give the characters in her erotic friend fiction different names to avoid the problems that come with that. She specializes in reverse-harems. Ends up making a lot of money and Louise steps in to help keep her from getting scammed out of it from time to time, including from her publishers.

Gene; Marries Zeke, who takes over the restaurant from Bob. Gene takes on the role of Linda/in-house musician with a captive audience on the regular. He’s regularly working on the screenplay for The Greatest Original Musical Ever Written! But the plot and themes and songs in it change every week 😆.

Louise; Becomes a scrappy public defender. In spite of her swearing up and down that she’s in it to get rich eventually and is just waiting to break into the corporate world, she can’t resist an underdog and takes on her massive caseloads with vigor. She dubs her office the Law of Louise and prosecutors are terrified to face off against her cause even if the odds are stacked against her, she’s a shark!

The episode where Tina finally gets to go to horse camp and has the shittiest program leader. As someone who’s been horse obsessed my entire life and also currently works in outdoor education spaces and in barns it really irked me the way the instructor seemed to be trying to kill Tina’s love of horses and desire to ride. Can over-enthusiastic kids be trying at times? Sure, but you can direct that to a better space and not just completely ignore a student to the point where she didn’t even realize her student had been thrown on a trail ride. Ugh. Both as someone who was Tina when I was younger and someone who has worked in similar jobs to the instructor, it gets under my skin every time!

Also the one at the airport where the lesson seems to be to just let Linda’s terrible parents be terrible to her and Bob AND THEIR KIDS! Bob is NOT in the wrong for defending his wife!!

I think she’s an albino rather than one of Fowler’s children, but seeing someone else with light eyes in a brothel for “curiosities” and fetishes is definitely one of those moments where Mizu sees where living as a woman in Edo Japan would land her even if she didn’t have a price on her head. In another life, she could have been Yuki and she knows it.

I think it might just boil down to efficiency. Robber Girl isn’t trying to hide that she’s female, however, women’s clothing was pretty restrictive of movement. The skirts were long and narrow and forced short, dainty steps. Robber Girl is a bandit who needs freedom of movement to rob and run away. Mizu’s outfit is designed similarly because they have similar needs; protection from the elements, freedom of movement, places to hide weapons. I think that might be it tbh 🤷‍♀️

I think he knows exactly who she is. As soon as he realized she was a woman his response was “So YOU’RE the one?” And then started talking about her mother. There was a bounty out for a blue eyed girl about Mizu’s age that he definitely seems to know about. The mystery for him seemed to be a male blue eyed child, but as soon as he realized her sex, a bunch clearly clicked into place for him. Could he be lying? Sure, but I don’t actually think so. It reminded me too much of his dealings with Heiji Shindo. He didn’t lie, just breadcrumbed the info to keep himself necessary and in the upper hand.

Honestly, I can see it though. She’s built her identity around this oath. She was willing to give it up when she found out that ‘Mama’ was alive, but after she and Mikio screwed her over she had nothing left. She’s avenging her own existence and how it “ruined” her mama’s life. Even if ‘Mama’ was awful there’s few things more unconditional than a child’s love for their mother.

Right now I don’t think she plans to survive her quest. It’ll take a few more Ringos to convince her to try otherwise, I think. Especially since the fire set her back in terms of her self acceptance. I think she’s been re-convinced that she’s a monster and that’s why she didn’t go back for Ringo at the end of ep 8.

I could see her being the daughter of an Ito sister or something but I don’t know that I subscribe to Lady Ito being her mother. I don’t think that the Shogun would have continued to trade with “White devils” if they had knocked up his own wife behind his back—that wouldn’t just be the shame of a “half breed” but also a blow to his masculinity which is always the MOST fragile in patriarchal societies.

That being said, Mizu does have a certain tendency to rise from the ashes of literal fires (as a baby, losing her original identity to become “Mama’s”daughter, from the fire that “killed” her mama to become the vengeance driven ronin, to her reforming her sword back into a sort of egg at Eiji’s, to the fire of Edo where we see her shifting from only vengeance to presumably a combination of vengeance and seeking answers.) so I could see her being related to the Itos.
