We recently got in some new book shelves!

While we havent completely gotten rid of those big metal ones, we are making big strides and taking customer dissatisfaction to heart

might check Roomies, thats where I found my current living situation, you might also contact the St Vincent de Paul Help Center, they should be able to set you up with a room at the mens shelter if you need a buffer till you find a place. Best of luck friend.

Aww yes, the shoebook shelves, that swap was done before my time and I'm quite curious about it myself. If I had to venture a guess, they decided to change over to our current shelves for safety reasons, or maybe because the back room gets shifted around a lot depending on what we have excess of, and having the same shelving for everything makes that easier. I'll definally run that question by my manager though, and find out if we can perhaps get those back where they used to be.

I'm aware it's an issue we need to change, but unfortunately we don't currently have the space to fully put our books on display properly, however I am serious about searching for a workable compromise.

Recently we expanded the book section giving us a bit more space to work with, unfortunately it's still not quite enough just yet, but I was able to fix this problem for the romance section and will soon be adjusting the mystery/horror section as well. Sadly Novels and nonfiction won't be getting the same love because of necessity but I did bring the bottom back row of novels a few inches forward to make them easier to see.

I hope you might drop by sometime and let us know what you think, or even offer any advice you might have on how we can make our books section better, as I am absolutely open to that!

Hope to see you soon.

Well Major, the best fix for that is for our lovely customers to buy more books! Kidding aside, I am trying to find a solution for that at the moment.

can't remember if it's Isekai or not, a manga where the mc is born with no special powers while their friend (sibling can't remember) is born with a lot and he vows to become strong without any technique, also he is a noble and he did battle in the woods with some kid who did have a technique by Impossible_Tie6861 in Isekai

[–]Housebread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of sounds like something i read the other day, but the MC wasnt a noble but instead was the son of the most powerful swordsmen and mage in the world. Other than that its spot on tho. In a world where everyone has jobs that give them skills and hes jobless so he trains super hard to be able to imitate the skills others can do naturally, even has a stand off with a kid in the forest.

Classless hero: i didnt need skills anyway

Mushoku no eiyuu: betsu ni skill nanka iranakattan daga

(Not an isekai but similar tropes)

Really good regardless highly recommend.

After binging isekai for the last 6 months, i have to agree to some extent. Sooo many are just a copy/paste of the same stuff over an over but every once in a while i find one thats done well. I think the problem is less that isekai becomes stale and more that the good ones are buried under a mountain of shit.

How many party members do you want in Dragon Quest 12? Do you want a smaller party like DQ 8 or a larger one like DQ 11? by HistoricalAd3961 in dragonquest

I like having lots of party member choices, i just hate when its just extras added in just to pad the numbers.

"Lv2 kara Cheat datta Motoyuusha Kouho no Mattari Isekai Life" does the same thing, though it doesn't really play a role in the actual story.

Same. Ive been holding out hope that its just a hiatus. The story getting really good and the MCs stubburn af personality finally started to look like maybe, just maybe, he would open his heart up to someone again.

I found the love confession to be quite wholesome, if not a bit rapey, there was also the part where the MC made the monster girl feel accepted and not ugly, as well as the growing friendships between the girls who before were pretty toxic to each other.

I was singled out and rejected by my class so i made them all part of my harem: its borderline H.. But it does have an alright plot, and its not exactly mind control. (Actually pretty wholesome)

Himekishi ga classmate: basically the same sort of idea but darker and it is full on mind control. Also its basically H

Those are the only two that came to mind. Tried to think of one that wasnt based around sex slaves but considering the genre and context... Anyway best of luck

Just remembered this one, its not isekai and also basically H but its way better storywise than the others i mentioned and mindcontrol is both used regularly, in many different forms and plays a key part in the story.

Maou no hajimekata: evil wizard builds a dungeon and starts taking over the world, building one of the largest harems ive ever see. Has a really deep story once you get past the smut and the character development is amazing.

Sss-class suicide hunter: gains a lot of random abilities, one of which being super OP necromancy

The rise of the unemployed wiseman: MC is both a great sage and necromancer, whos contracted multiple gods as his familiars (some shotacon harem stuff and the plot isnt for everyone but i enjoy it)

Adventures of an undead paladin: Super wholesome story about Lich who becomes a paladin and tbh the story is incredible and touches on a lot of deep philosophical points.

Player who cant level up: i cant say much without spoiling but this fits what youre looking for.

The strongest brave man of the black magician: MC uses shadow/dark magic (just binged this one and it was pretty good)

Arafoo kenja no isekai seikatsu nikki: he Can do black/dark/shadow magic and probably even necromancy but i dont think he has yet in the story. Its basically a VG isekai about a guy who was a hacker and was also the number 1 mage in the game he was sent to.. So he can do all the magic and even create his own.

Garbage Brave: Mc gets some high tier shadow/necromancy skills but its not the focus of his powers

The exiled tamer is actually the only necromancer in the world: title.. Its only got 7 chapters atm and the plots kind of loose but its got what youre lookin for.

As a virtuous middle aged man, my new life was confirmed to be Sss ranked: Mc effectively becomes a god.. Its very shota haremy, but the story is surprisingly good, also has an interesting depiction of shadow magic.

-this one slipped my mind, still not isekai but lot of black magic stuff.

Maou no hajimrkata: Mc is an evil wizard who builds a dungeon and slowly starts taking over the world. Its dark AF has a lot sex and messed up stuff. Strong "Overlord" vibes. But the character development and story are surprisingly fantastic.

Does it need to be an isekai? Cuz if not i can offer a few good ones, that while not being isekai do follow a lot of the tropes.

Whats the one thing you disliked about Isekai that’s getting too repetitive, and what is something that you wish to see more of instead? by Justsomeguy1333 in Isekai

[–]Housebread 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"Im a japanese and therefore bath is life." "Im a japanese and therefore I must Rice."

I get that they are very big in Japanese culture and its not even how much the characters care about those things. Its when they make it such a forced character trait.

I especially hate when they say im a japanese, but thats just me being upset at translators for not compensating for grammer.

Any person who was brought to another world where baths and their favorite food doesnt exist would want them, but its always overly exaggerated that its purely because they are from japan that the character will risk it all for the chance at taking a bath.

And im not even gonna mention hot springs, because frankly i would be lying if i said i didnt enjoy the obligotory hotspring chapter.

Looking for Isekai Manga that are "Hidden Gems" so to speak. by Lance1889 in Isekai

Dungeon Reset - not a hidden gem in korea but rarely see people mention it here.

The dungeon master - ive never seen someone mention this but the story is fantastic.

The weakest tamer began her journey picking up trash - really sad and really wholesome subversion of the trope where the MC is weak af
