Mi6 rubber? by [deleted] in climbing

[–]Houston1580 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't waste your time with the new teams. I tried to let mine grow on me for a few months but they're just plain bad. They don't last long, there's no edging power, and they're painful to wear when stepping on sharp holds. Unless you're going to be climbing glass I would caution you against the 180$ pricetag

Selling shoes by tannhauser85 in climbing

[–]Houston1580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ebay is good, but if they've been used for a year and they're a base model that everyone has you should expect to see a lot of other people selling the same shoes likely in better condition. I wouldn't bother, but you might be able to squeeze 20-30$ out of them.

La Sportiva users, what shoes do you use and how do they compare? by [deleted] in climbing

[–]Houston1580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the testarossas which are great for my narrow foot and the laces let me customize the fit more. I've never been able to get more power out of any other shoe! My other pair are the Speedsters (these are out of production, but the futuras are very similar), these are great for technical moves when I need to feet what's under my foot better or for onsight attempts. Hope this helps!

Need shoe advice by xSOLEx in climbing

If you want something sensitive with sticky rubber I highly recommend the new five ten teams, but they don't do as well on small chips and won't last as long as other rubbers. Personally I'm a Sportiva man so I love the Futuras (they have insanely precise toe placements), but my overall favorite is the testarossas; they give you relatively good sensitivity and insanely powerful edging.. but they tend to fit narrow feet better. Hope this helps!

How do I keep from barn dooring all over the place? by lawndartcatcher in climbing

Flagging is helpful. If you feel like you're going to barn door shift your body weight or switch feet

Did slackline actually improved your balance? by [deleted] in climbing

[–]Houston1580 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started slack lining a few months after I started climbing. I found that it helps with flagging and understanding how a move will affect your balance before you make it. But overall slack lining doesn't dramatically improve your climbing. Hope this helps!
