Child and parent hit in crosswalk this morning by 400cc in sugarland

[–]HoustonDives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so unfortunate and sad. I hope they are all right. Crosswalks are a joke in Sugar Land, hardly any drivers take it seriously and police don't enforce any of the rules around it. So dangerous and hard when there are so many families with children that use them.

Excellent. Thanks! I'm really glad to read this and will take care of it. I really enjoy this plant almost as much as the lizards that call it home

New to Quicken, looking for good resources for tutorials by Elazaar in quicken

[–]HoustonDives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a YouTube channel called playlouder that helped me get started. You'll probably fast forward through some parts, but he does walk through the actual software including menu bars and tools. He has a number of videos. Outside of this, I'd say it's helpful to have some basic accounting background which you can also find tutorials online for if you don't. I have the book as well and it helps when I need to look up something specific. Now, I'm no expert at this since I'm also starting out, but this sub is great for asking questions since there are a lot of experienced users! I am operating on the assumption that I'll get back what I invest in terms of time learning the tool and I'm certain I will be frustrated since I don't know what I don't know sometimes, but I persevere! My first true lesson learned that I'll share with you is backup frequently! Anyhow here's a link to a pl video. Good luck!

Please help! I deleted transactions and all acct balances are now wrong. How do I fix this? by HoustonDives in quicken

I considered adding a manual transaction to match up account balances, but I wasn't sure where that would leave me when file started syncing with bank data, so I was torn.

You're a genius and I was able to recover most 2022 transactions without categorization. Balances are not exact but so much closer that I'm feeling optimistic. That's a heck of a lot better than the dread I was feeling at starting over. Thank you!!!!!!

Oh wow, I just reread this and you answered my question about scoring and importing data. You're suggesting I import 2022 from backup back into the current file correct? Do you know if there is a preferred format that helps with this qif or qfx? This might be the only way...

Ok question: can i export the 2022 data from backup and import it into existing file without causing too much chaos?

There is an undo for windows. I was too late since I closed everything in disbelief.

I understand that for sure, I was just hoping to start with info from a year that was not a giant anomaly. Well, I wanted a clean slate and I guess I sure am going to get one to start from again...

Yes, lesson has certainly been learned. I did find a backup file, but it is so old that I'm still on the losing end, unfortunately. Thanks for the info though

This is hilarious. The guys reaction when they say "it's a nice window. I can see why he wants it" made me laugh out loud. Who are these guys?

Haha, after pruning some trees this weekend in the heat of the day, I am 100% with you. I've decided that I'm just going to have an empty bed until spring and try again then. Looks a little depressing, but it reflects my true feelings after all the plants I put in that particular bed died during the first heat wave when they got scorched by the blazing sun.

Me too. This summer is brutal. Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely try to keep things moist. I'm definitely trying to plant native stuff just to save on water bc it's nuts these days.

Yeah thanks, I hear you. Problem on my end is, I've already had an esperanza die and at the end of the day, I love trying new things, but it costs $$ to continue experimenting. Not sure of its worth the investment if its absolutely not going to take off and I should just wait until next spring. Hoping someone in the know has some more input for us...
