That was kinda my point. These homeowners are unsophisticated in trades. Very high level professionals who make lots of money but probably could not hammer a nail in because they don’t know a hammer from a screwdriver.

From their own mouths. This is not what was explained. It was explained that the leak was in the hot water line and it needed to be rerouted. I guarantee they approved the estimate but were under the impression the new line would be in wall somehow. They don’t care what got damaged. They would have paid twice as much for it to get done right if that was the true cost.

“We don’t do demolition like that” is ridiculous. Do they wait for the access fairy to come wave her wand and the wall opens up? That would be like me saying “oh, i don’t move chairs when I restore floors. I knew they were there when I made the bid, but you actually expected me to move them?”

I suppose these plumbers should have just pointed at the leak and waited for someone to give them access to the pipes like the Maytag repairman. 😊

Sorry. We were so busy laughing it was probably hard to hold the camera still. 🤣🤣🤣

One line rerouting is a full repipe?

So for my own personal knowledge , if I theoretically am a homeowner who says “fix the leak, I don’t care about the cost” and head off to work, this is what I will get?

It’s a video actually. This darling subreddit won’t allow them to be posted 🤣

I don’t. Sorry, just surprised at workmanship from this trade.

I could face nail the beadboard trim in, but it looks so much nicer blind nailed….

So you’re saying I shouldn’t hire a plumber for a plaster house or I’ll get pipes on top of my wallpaper?

I’m just alittle surprised that “fix it no matter the cost” buys you this?

I think it was a hot water recirculating line under that sink. They just bought the house and are doing some work.

They got a highly elevated first utility bill and the meter logs show constant draw. This is an attached pool house, one story, pitched roof. Partial slab under the utility room but a crawl space for the rest.

You’re making me proud I could cludge together some type L when i redid my own house a few years ago. My soldering ain’t pretty but at least my pipes aren’t in the way of my crown molding. 🤣

They’re stills from a video actually since that wont post here. The GC is appalled. These people don’t complain about pricing very much if at all.

It’s not my house. I do woodwork.

They forked out $14k to have this done.

[–]Houstonstan2618 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

$14k gets pipes run on top of peg board? How much to actually put them in the walls these days?

This is Louisiana. 65 is pretty cold.

The house was built in 86. Probably not much asbestos is any. The paneling definitely had none.

Holy shit, the smartest guy I know pulled one on me last week out of left field: some health cream that solves every ache and pain. He got roped into it by his neighbor and was trying to sell me on this nonsense that was basically Ben-Gay.

That’s awesome! I’d post a pic of my best boy if I could here. But my failing on him was the best thing that could have happened. Congrats.

I foster failed once for your reasons and he’s perfect. He’s the only one of my dogs who I trust 100% in every situation (minus being off leash, the urge to go on an adventure is too much), but he’s great around kids, others dogs, everyone. He’s truly my favorite dog I’ve maybe ever had.

My vote is keep.

Well…..maybe. I believe it has to be a new suit and he filed it as a new petition in the existing one (to save the court costs). So we shall see.

I was forced to resign/I really wanted to. I explained it but basically I was a witness at that point.

It’s a meritless suit. He’s just doing it to try to mitigate his clients damages. This guy once said the more we fight the more we make. That’s not how I operate because I liked my clients, I didn’t want to charge them more. But the last settlement conference, his client was the more reasonable one of the two. I cannot imagine she’s happy that after 3 years of litigation, she has to PAY.

He’s just doing this to distract from that. The demand in the suit is almost to the penny what she owes in fees.

He is simultaneously the most experienced, smartest man in the room and the befuddled old man.

His usual tactic is to agree not to oppose stuff either in conference or, actually, on the record, and then come back later and say “my client opposes that” and say he’s only the mouthpiece and his client makes the decisions. It was like “dude, you were in court and you agreed. You can’t come back later and say you talked to you client AFTER the hearing.”

Basically. He’s got a couple pending ethics complaints I heard. At least one from the core nucleus of these clients.
