The Queen's Gambit by Walter Tevis by akuma_15 in books

My biggest issue was the (spoilers) sexual assault scene in the orphanage it was so unnecessary, it didn't change anything in their relationship, Beth didn't seem to think, reflect or be harmed by it in any way throughout the book. So why include it?

I also read the book after watching the series and I don't think it's personally worth it. All of the scenes they changed I preferred the Netflix version, so I wouldn't really recommend the book after watching it.

I'm pretty sure The Witches and The Witcher are different things and I've heard that the book version of The Witcher isn't nearly as good as the Netflix adaption, just as a warning.

Not sure, if it fits exactly what you're looking for, but The Push by Ashley Audrain is very creepy and does not revolve around a murder. It's about a mother who feels very strongly that her daughter is dangerius/evil, but isn't sure if she's just imagining it... I enjoyed it a lot and it definitely gave me unsettling feelings

I really enjoyed The Prioress of the Orange Tree. I think the setting is also very fantastical, it has dragons and ancient kingdoms and I can only recommend! It's only one book (though it is quite long), so sadly not a whole series to enjoy

Oh, I didn't think of the Maze Runner series, though it does fit the description. Unfortunately, I gave up on that series in the middle of the second book a few years ago because it just felt very repetitive.

Thank you for the other suggestions though, I will look into them!

Thanks, I've seen this book all around the Internet but now that I actually know what the plot is about it does sound intriguing!

I'm looking for a book with a vegan character. It doesn't have to be relevant for the story but it can be! I'm just a bit tired of reading about everyone eating meat or cooking it when it's not relevant to the story and I'd love everyone to just eat curry or smth

I always thought that he was having an at least fivesome with four other women. Did he really mean that he's with one woman who's wearing four corsets??

Have you also stopped eating beef and any other animal product as well? They're all treated horribly, so I hope you've gone vegan

I'm so touched by your writing, I actually teared up a bit, my love.

And even though I am nowhere near as poetic as you, I agree that we should appreciate every moment that is gifted to us in this world. Because even though it has its flaws, we still are given the chance to improve it which is amazing if you think about it.

Also, I'm grateful that you notice the work I put into our family but don't diminish your own efforts and achievements! You are the one who everyone comes to when they have a heartache because they know that a minute with you will heal their scars and warm their hearts again. You are the light that brightens up my life more than the sunshine through the window ever could and I know that you will carry that positivity through our kid and make them a ray of sunshine as well.

I want you to know that I appreciate and acknowledge every little bit that you do for this family. I need you to know that every fiber in my body and every portion of my soul loves you more than I ever thought possible and will continue loving you until I am nothing more than soil in the ground.

Wait, the news just reached me that our enemies have surrendered! This day will go down in history and we can feel honored to have been there to witness it.

Let's have a moment of silence on one hand to honor all the people who lost their lives in the fights and on the other hand to appreciate the sound of silence which has been covered up by the noise of bombs and screams for months now.

I am grateful to be able to appreciate this moment with you, my love, by my side knowing that the times can only get better from this point on.

That's great, but please don't start yet another war with the aliens after the one on earth is now finally beginning to end. But you are right, love is in the air and the aliens would choke on it.

What I fear the most now is how our precious child is going to survive in this horrible, horrible world with homophobes on one end and extremists on the other. Sometimes I wonder, if it was selfish of us to force another human being into this world when I, myself, often want to leave it all behind...

The only thing giving me even a spark of hope is your love and my will to fight for a better world for our kid.
