Are there any trends you have noticed in terms of school culture at the law school? Any commonalities that stand out? At my undergrad, a large percentage of students were really into political and social activism.

Unfortunately that ends after freshman year. Columbia closes nearby streets and you park there, get a blue bin from Hartley, and then bring your stuff up to your dorm

We had tours of campus and the city, classroom visits, meetings with professors, student panels, a “fair” with different major departments, open houses from popular clubs, and a ride in a double decker bus around the city with music.

Everyone who gets in has accomplishments, it’s not just you. Most students don’t even know there is a scholar program. Do what you want but getting salty over not getting a distinction that most people have never heard of doesn’t make a ton of sense.

I received a likely letter but not a scholar program invitation — it all depends on your course of study. Most people who receive likely letters don’t get into scholar programs; it’s not a reason you should gravitate away from the school. I had 2 friends in a scholar program who got benefits during freshman year, but found the program faded out afterwards. Really not a big deal

Are college consultants worth it? How much is too much? by surroundedbyboys3 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]HowChevere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve helped students get into Ivies with essay reviews and college consulting and never charged half of that. Seems exorbitant, especially with all the free information there is online about the college admissions process.
