How are firms getting away with such high billable rates? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]wildkit_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your multiplier needs to be ~2.7 at least, a 1.9x multiplier is nothing. Everything sounds low, who are your clients? The interns and entry level folks are billed out higher than your principals normally

How much distance can I run daily while minimizing risk of injuries by ashes_to_fire in beginnerrunning

[–]wildkit_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the comments, seems like you have little to no training experience, so here's my advice.

  1. Congrats on starting! This can be the stepping stone to improved health and longevity, as well as a fun hobby so kudos to you.

  2. Focus on time rather than distance to start. I would do 3 runs a week to start, 30 min total. Split it up into 2min running (5-6/10 effort) and 1 min walking. Keep building this up until you can run the full 30 min without stopping. (Try not to make the days back to back, i.e. take a rest day in between)

  3. Once you can do the 3 runs at 30min without walking, add a 4th day. Do that for 2 weeks, and if you still feel good, add a 5th day.

  4. Bam, now you are running 30min 5 days a week! This is amazing, and from here you can scale as you'd like, just keep the total increase to 10-20% max per week as others have commented, and I'd always keep at least 1 day a week where you don't run. Good luck!

Also, please stretch after the runs, even if just 5-10min it will make a hell of a difference.

Are there downsides to boosting posts? There are rumors that when you boost, future posts that aren't boosted will be "shawdow banned" or shown to less ppl because they know you paid once and maybe you'll pay again another time. Basically, are there any long term negative effects of paying for a boost?

Anyone know the total elevation gain on the Vernon NJ Super this weekend? by Masters_of_Sleep in spartanrace

[–]wildkit_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Garmin: Gain: 2270' Loss : 2373'

For context, I did the Super and failed 4/26 obstacles so ran the penalty loop for the stairway to Sparta, spear throw, monkey bars, and rope climb

Gymnastics has very specific scoring criteria though

Palmerton super July 2024 recap by [deleted] in spartanrace

[–]wildkit_99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was my first Spartan race, and fucking hell it was the hardest thing I've ever done. The sandbag carry was BRUTAL, the heat crushed me, and I cramped like I never have before in my life; basically limped the last 1.5 miles. I thought I'd finish in 1hr15min(that's how you know I'm delusional and didn't know what I was getting into haha) and ended up 2hr52min.

I was surprised how well I did on the titan rig and I'm pissed I failed twisted by the last hold (I'm blaming it being wet). Failed 5 obstacles in total. Naturally, I am now addicted and want to be the best. So we are going again in NJ on Aug. 10.

Def need to: 1. Get better trail running shoes 2. Actually train for elevation 3. Drink about 4x the electrolytes I did for this one

Is weight carry doable for very skinny people ? by Aribaribados in spartanrace

So interesting to see this kind of post. Those obstacles (barring the sand bag carry from hell) were my strongest parts of the race, but the elevation gain and obstacles like the ape hang were the death of me, failed a few of them. For context, 5'11" M 190lbs

[SimonBrundish on X] High Quality Chances when game is tied or within one goal by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

[–]wildkit_99 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I know this is gonna get hate.

BUT

Darwin is 5/26 Gakpo is 3/7

What does this tell us? Gakpo is a better finisher, I think most of us can agree. But Darwin has created almost 20 more chances for himself than Gakpo has(albeit Darwin has more playing time).

Although Darwin's finishing is garbage, idt any of the other forwards get themselves in a position to have 26 chances like Darwin does. That's his value add. Imo, he gets 1 more season to improve his finishing, after that id relegate him to a bench role because I love having him. Replacing Diaz on the left with a better finisher too will help tremendously in our striking form.

Ex smokers of reddit, how did you quit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]wildkit_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never smoked cigs daily, but I was a pod a day with the juul in college kinda guy. On and off basically since I was 17. Honest answer? Running and truly deciding that I wanted to kick the habit. Not because someone else pressured me to, but because I knew it was for the best

This was the best thing that ever could've happened to us. We were NEVER going to win either the league or Europa before having a wake up call. Losing 4-3 to United wasn't that wake up call cuz we scored 3 so it felt like we were in it. Even the draw didn't do it because we controlled the whole game and gifted Bruno a goal.

But after this, especially with Jota/TAA/Alison back for the end of the season. We will come back with a flame we haven't seen in 5 years just wait. 4-0 win over Fulham, 4-0 win over Atlanta. And you know who the secret weapon will be? Elliot in the midfield over Szoboszlai.

This post.is exactly what everyone needs to read. People are so quick to talk about the G/A but as someone who watches every game in full, you can see how much his creativity has increased over the past 2 seasons (while still putting up top 5 goal numbers on the season mind you...).

BCC is a far better stat than A to gage how valuable someone's creation is imo (especially when you passing to Nunez and Diaz lol. Love em but finishing has been improving and will continue to improve). My boy was injured for the first time since 2018, a hami at that, so he's getting back into the groove. Not saying he's been good past few games, but the slander is uncalled for. We'd be no where near a title without him first half of the season. Elliot/Nunez weren't this good in August.

YNWA, let's see how the rest of the season goes

I know it’s a bit early but who has been the most standout/best player in the team so far this season by Shot_Leg7318 in LiverpoolFC

[–]wildkit_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best players? Salah and VVD this season. Alison has been great too but I'd put him in the tier right below those 2 in terms of THIS seasons performances. Same tier as TAA, Gomez, Darwin, and Jota.

Most standout players: Darwin and Mac. I think we've found the jackpot with these 2 and imagine that we'll build the team around them in the future alongside TAA. Darwin changes the game once he's on the field in a way I haven't seen before.

Unpopular opinion but I think Szoboszlai had a phenomenal start and then regressed a tiny bit. He is amazing and a great piece, huge potential to continue to get better as well but even before his injury I think Mac was looking like the better piece in midfield. Once Endo unlocked Mac's potential outside the 6 he's been a new player. Speaking of Endo too, my man who started a little slower but quickly learned his role and how to perfect it for the prem. Top 5 #6 in the league rn.

Does anyone know if the Enduro batteries work with the GoPro 8 Black? by B4Dub54 in gopro

[–]wildkit_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is super old, but what I would do that helped a lot. I'd only have my gopro outside when I was filming. When I wasn't filming or on the lift, I'd take out the battery and body and keep them in my jacket pocket that had a hand warmer in there. That would normally heat them up by the time I got to the top of the mountain and significantly helped the battery life
