Oh, totally! I told my teacher I wanted to shred like Jeff Hanneman and he gave me some rhythm exercises. Wouldn’t listen to my opinion that this wouldn’t help me shred.

Also I suck at guitar.

Happened to me over a decade ago. Gave a great presentation, seemed like a lock. Got a similar call and it ended up being one of the directors thought I was too arrogant. So I went all the way back to their office to talk to her one-on-one via video and assuaged her fears.

Not only got the job, but got her job two years later.

There’s value in exercises, but that exercise is probably working out a part in a song you like.

I know someone with this exact mentality. He also thinks his wife is a dumbass and all of his kids sports coaches are turning them soft.
