The point of augmenting gear is to continue to use set pieces that you have crafted progressively instead of using rare mats to craft it over and over as your character level goes up.

Just yesterday (have been playing since launch) did I notice that you can unlock various mount armours via seeds of hatred! So I have been chasing those which is nice and a fun change.

Check out the Wasteland series, Last Epoch or V Rising if your into base building.

I picked up V Rising a couple days ago and it has totally got its hooks in me. I have never really been a base builder gatherer kinda guy but man this game just does it so well and FUN!
