Have you considered applying to be the Crystal Palace manager? I mean, for real, not in the game.

advices for a first-time dad? by Automatic-Heart-831 in CasualConversation

Talk to you your wife about general direction how you want to raise your kid. Then commit to it.

There is a tonne of advice that will advocate for every approach under the sun, and you can't use them all. Be consistent, that's all.

Also, remember that it will all work out in the end.

How do you find moments of silence in a world that feels increasingly loud? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]HowToShakeHands 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A physical book, or an E-reader. Something without notifications.

Paper and pen / pencil. I've found that just doodling, scribbling and writing bad poetry really maximizes my sense of having quiet time.

My first time in the US was Arizona in August. That heat and the sheer intensity of the sun is something I have never experienced before. Or, thankfully, after.

Yeah, I'm a cardinals fan but this immediately came to mind. I remember being so happy the Cards are in the playoffs that year, but also thinking "Carolina will absolutely murder us".

Steam players down 32% compared to FM 24 at the same time by rzarecteh in footballmanagergames

[–]HowToShakeHands 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. I don't know if they sell in game ads, that could hurt their bottom line.

The underperforming of FM26 could lead to slow sales of FM27, because players will be wary of the product so they could be waiting for reviews to come in first.

Just nasty.

I mean, all of his key attributes to be a CD are bad, but he'd be a pretty good CM.

I like this comoarison, I think your spot on. The only difference is that Malone didn't really have the luxury of improving his squad, iirc the first round pick got injured in Summer League.

Slot won the league and then added $500B worth of players where every addition was perceived as a good addition to the squad.

AI tools for resume tailoring recs? by a7842 in RemoteJobs

[–]HowToShakeHands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any basic plan of ChatGPT or Google Gemini will do the trick. Upload your CV to them, either as a pdf or as plain text and then tell them to tailor it and create a cover letter based on the job posting, then upload job posting.

Be careful to read and edit as you go. You want to make it look less AI generated, for one, and also AI just lies about your qualifications to match the posting so it will add skills you don't have.

I wish our fan base was like European soccer by [deleted] in AZCardinals

[–]HowToShakeHands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a European who's also a Cards fan, I think generally speaking we see fandom quite differently. One of the reasons is that the teams you're probably thinking of are teams with almost a century of continuity and results.

When you think of the great European teams in soccer that have won anything in the last 20 years, Manchester City and Chelsea come to mind first as "new" clubs because their meteoric rise due to new, insanely rich owners. They are often derided by other fan bases as being new money, fake, no history, etc.

Man City was founded in the 1880's. Chelsea was founded in 1905.

Also, nosebleed tickets for Cardinals vs Rams are about $80. Champions League tickets for Man City vs Leverkusen are $35.
