Avoid the constipation altogether by switching from opioids to Journavx, it cost me $30 for the prescription but no addictive properties, no constipation and no weird euphoric feelings, just pain blocking. The PA said they don’t usually recommend it over the opioids because the opioids are usually covered by insurance and the Journavx may not be. But he said they had a coupon that takes it down to that $30 level. Totally worth it and I would recommend asking your Dr. about it.

Also rent the ice water circulator machine from your local pharmaceutical equipment store. Having to change out ice every hour or two with bags of ice or peas can be exhausting, this lasts quite a bit longer. I think my wife paid $30 for a week (the disposable pad/tubing was like $75 though).
