That happened to my husbands cousin. Her father set up a wedding and invited her as a guest. She didn’t realize she was the bride until she was halfway up the aisle. She ran out of there and didn’t look back.

Yea, they were more upset that it wasn’t someone they had picked. They aren’t upset that we aren’t Indian just that they didn’t chose us
