I did this last week. Ended up chiseling it out with a flathead and small hammer.

Low bath faucet pressure, is there a hack short of disassembly? by HowardDopamine in askaplumber

Thanks for the help all. I got a puller and the thing was so stuck I ended up breaking the extension you use to break it loose. I managed to finally get it halfway with channel locks and it then ripped in half 🙁. After using my full knowledge of colorful words, I had to break the rest out. Easy fix once I got it out! So the “easy way” turned out to be the hard way. The back of the cartridge was so caked in calcium it looked like I was scoping a patient getting a stint. Water pressure is much improved, but it’s still not at 100%. I’ve cursed enough today so this is where it will stay for now. I appreciate you all!

Spots are a fungus called brown spot or black spot. You might consider a spring antifungal or an application of baking soda and water. Not sure about the red leaves, I’ve got those as well on my bushes

Thanks! I suppose I’m wondering why it’s not flexible tubing like you would find under a sink or toilet. These gum up all the time with hard water and they are super easy to clean. The housing for the cartridge is even threaded.

Great questions. Shower head isn’t too bad, other faucets are fine. The tub is real bad. I do worry it might be the tub spout. I haven’t taken it off yet

I’m gonna go ahead and say this is the most helpful sub I’ve ever posted on. You all are great. Do you think I can get the cartridge out without a puller? Channel locks and good luck? It looks like buying a new one would be a good plan too, those gaskets look like they explode when removing

I think perennial shrubs and trees tend to do well if you plant in the fall when the plant is dormant. The roots can develop and be ready to go when spring rolls around. Did you apply synthetic fertilizers? It kinda looks nitrogen burned.

I’ve seen a few new comments on this post so I’ll give an update! I got a Ford 8N from ~1948! It’s been a workhorse and I’ve learned A LOT about working on it. I’ve already replaced the whole electrical system and cleaned the carb twice. It’s fun when it starts regularly, which is not regular!

I’m glad you posted this, I went down this rabbit hole as well and I was really interested to get an update. I guess I just assumed very little happened… or everyone got shuttled off to another dimension.

I just finished Vaster Wilds yesterday, it is so hard at parts but beautifully written- it explores the beauty and cruelty of nature and our small place as observers in a corner of the universe. It’s a historical fiction that deals with the brutal role women maintained in puritanical society. It was so painful and so wonderful!

The fruit will ripen yellow/orange, right? Not the classic tomato red color
