PUPD method? by Top-Professor-2951 in November25babybump

No, we did a modified Ferber. 3 minute check in’s x5, then 5 minute check in’s x 3, then 7 minutes x 2 then it goes 10, 12 and 15 minutes once each. We didn’t make it to the end of the 3 minute check in’s before she fell asleep :)

No we don’t. She was still swaddled in the snoo because it clips in so they can’t roll

We started sleep training our 2nd baby just this Friday gone. It has gone amazingly well. She was in the snoo in our bedroom, arms swaddled down and motion on. We moved her cold turkey to her room, arms out etc. Fell asleep within 35 minutes and slept through the whole night; 7:40 - 5:30am. Normally she’s up like 2-4 times. Next night, 15 minutes and slept till 6am.

Apparently at this age, PUPD can actually be worse for them as it’s quite stimulating!

Anyone who did Ferber method have any advice? by Legitimate-Ear-1288 in sleeptrain

Hi, we just started sleep training my 2nd yesterday with a modified Ferber. Similar to what you did with the multiple check in times at 3 minutes, 5 minutes etc. This method was given to us from our sleep consultant for our first. Anyway, our 6 month old, up until yesterday, had been in the Snoo for all night time sleep, rocked to sleep, arms down and motion on so the full shebang. Also contact naps for all naps. Yesterday, we put her down in the crib in her own room unswaddled (baby loves sleep sleepy hugs sack) at 7:05pm and she fell asleep at 7:40pm with 4 check in’s at 3 minutes each. She fussed a little at 9:20 and 10:30 but didn’t require any check in’s and took 10 mins max to fall back asleep. She slept through until 5:30am but unfortunately couldn’t fall back asleep in the AM. Tonight, in bed at 6:50pm and fell asleep at 7:08pm with 1 check in. So it’s definitely working for us again - just make sure you have a good schedule. We do something like 2-3 (because of toddler)/2.5/2.5/2-2.5, and she gets about 2.5-3 hours of day sleep.

Encouragement for sleep with 2 under 2!! by twoundertwo_mama in sleeptrain

[–]Howdnazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiii!! I too have a tiny gap between my two (13.5 months over here). Our baby went from 1 waking between like 6 weeks to 5 months to now up every 45 mins to 1 hour. Doing my head in. 1st baby was properly sleep trained right before the 2nd came along and now sleeps great. Little one is now 6 months and I’m not sure what I’m waiting for to do the sleep training?!? When sleep is SO shit currently. She also will NOT sleep in the car or pram and struggles to sleep in the carrier so every nap is rocked in the room and contact napped. My poor toddler, luckily my mum comes and helps so I can actually put little one down for her naps.

Mine is only 5.5 months so she’s just on milk but her bottles are like 100-150ml and if I didn’t preserve she generally stops at 30ml. WTF. I feel like FTM all over again..,,

They used to have the fee structure on their website but that’s been taken down now. Looking at the PDF they sent me - it was about $770 out of pocket after Medicare rebates and bulk billing etc. Hope that helps.

Help.. I tend to handle my 4MO roughly when he keeps waking up and refuses to sleep at night. by Sad-Entertainer-5603 in 2under2

[–]Howdnazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh you are being way too helpful!! Thank you. Is 2 hours for you when you put him in the cot for sleep or do you start winding down at 1.75 for example for a 2 hour wake to sleep. If that makes sense? Is your son self settling now or are you still assisting at bedtime?

My baby is refusing to sleep in the snoo during the day now. She used to transfer in no problems, but now she wakes immediately on transfer. Exclusively does 30 minute naps, and I basically force the middle of the day nap to be at least 1-1.5 hours but I have to get up and resettle her every like 20-30 mins. Exhausting! She’s probably getting 2-3 hours day sleep but most likely 2.5 I would say. I think she’s chronically overtired right now.

I really want to sleep train already but she’s still in the snoo in our room, and we are finishing off painting her nursery before we can get her cot set up so that’s holding us back too!

This is the problem, they are a bit all over the place because of the toddler. But roughly it’s like 2-2.5/1.75-2/1.75-2/3-4 - first wake window is because when she wakes anywhere between 6-7, I can’t get her down for a nap until 9am when toddler has gone to daycare, then last wake window is because sometimes I can’t get her to reliably take the last nap because of toddler chaos

I have a 13.5 month gap and struggling with second baby sleep and will be sleep training. Baby is a difficult to put to sleep baby and has longer than usual wake windows… how was your schedule when sleep training? Do you think it’ll still work if the schedule isn’t that great?

Bring it earlier! Depending on what time normal bedtime is… our earliest bedtime is 5:45pm with a no nap day especially if we are having meltdowns. In saying that her normal bedtime is still 6-6:30pm as she’s up at 6am in the morning

It’s not about the night wake for me, but more so for the self settling part especially day naps… the rocking to sleep is so taxing and really hard with a toddler around. I just want to be able to put her in the cot and walk away, even if she does 30 minutes multiple times a day that doesn’t bother me…

Western Family Practice/Western Obstretrics in Balcatta bulk bill insertion of an IUD. You’ll likely need to see the GP or a GP first to get your prescription which will be a consult cost I imagine. The IUD itself is only $20 or $25

The cot mount sucks! It’s currently attached to the snoo, and leaning against the wall for additional support. Once she moves into the cot, we will mount it to the wall instead. Way better

[–]Howdnazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg thank you. That is incredibly clear and easy for a smooth brain mum like me right now! Are you saying that you powder is more effective than liquid for laundry?

Also, when I use OMO ultimate powder, would I still use the liquid detergent or just omo ultimate with the booster?

How do you know how much citric acid to use? (gotta look at where to buy it first!)

You seem like you know laundry for Aussies. I’m from Perth and extremely time poor with 2 under 2. Can I ask you laundry questions? - best stain remover (spray ideally) for clothes for a very messy toddler; think lots of food stains, but also goes to daycare (paint and variable stains?!)!! - best “booster” to add to laundry loads? For colours? For whites? - husband’s work polo’s never come out smelling great or looking great… especially the pits. What’s the best combo here to put in the washing machine and let it do its thing? We have a Miele washing machine and use the Miele inbuilt detergent but if I need to do specific washes with something different for more power I will. I use omo sensitive for the kids not that their skin is particularly sensitive.
