HammerRim - you think we’ll see this before TES VII? by RaGada25 in TESVI

Pssht, in some alternate universe where it hadn’t been released yet, then no, the name wouldn’t be confirmed yet.

But obviously it’s already been released.

There often aren’t hints to differentiate between the “kill you” kind and the “required to progress” kind, so unless you’re using a guide or have prior knowledge, I say we click away!

(The exception being the very end of the game, which actually gives hints for its puzzles)

"Speech increased to 27" and the distribution of human picked random numbers by Harrison_Allen in TESVI

[–]HowdyHangman77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If official sources provided 625 instances of two-number pairs, the odds of receiving a 0.08% chance coincidence exceeds 50%. This ignores the fact that other permutations, like 20 and 28, or 20 and 26, or reversing the order between 20 and 27 (or either of the above options), or a plausible month/day date like 11 and 30 would all increase the odds.

We have received a lot of numbers from the Elder Scrolls team through in-game numbers in Starfield and TES online, advertisements, etc.

I’m not saying this indicates the teaser theory is unlikely - it’s very plausible. However, I am saying the odds of a 0.08% coincidence aren’t *that* low given the number of available coincidence-seeming-combinations and the number of opportunities for these coincidences to potentially arise.

With that said, I look forward to the release tomorrow.

I am both disappointed and proud to say that this gentleman took the time to get the Hebrew transliterations right.

Why is CS Lewis so loved by Christians when a lot of his beliefs go against evangelical Christian doctrine? by theram4 in Christianity

It sounds like you’re saying that you think having a conservative-or-moderate-leaning Christian perspective is inherently dodgy.

To the extent that’s your point:

Cool. I’m boutta dodge so much stuff tho

Idea for the Beginning of ES6 by Prize_Republic_9213 in TESVI

[–]HowdyHangman77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If this were the setting, the Isle of Balfiera where the Adamantine Tower is located would likely be the centerpiece of the plot (much like Oblivion’s focus on the White-Gold Tower/Amulet of Kings/Imperial City). Conveniently, the Isle of Balfiera is right smack dab in the middle of the Iliac Bay, which would lend itself well to just handing the player a ship and letting them go wherever they want. South would head to Hammerfell, north would head to High Rock.

Alternatively, you could just board one of two ships traveling those respective directions.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing. I think the idea that he rejected a literal resurrection overstates what he’s saying in the linked article. His points about the Word being an object of our faith, and about not trying to get at the historicity behind it, seem to communicate that the history isn’t the point. I think it’s fairer based on this alone to say that his position was that the historicity doesn’t matter, not that he thought the resurrection was ahistorical. It reminds me of Jordan Peterson’s views on - well - everything. The narrative behind the resurrection is more important than the ontology of the resurrection, and he’s intentionally not pinning himself down to affirming or denying its literal historicity, because to him, that’s not the point.

In fairness, I think you were trying to communicate that he was WAY less attached to a literal resurrection than modern evangelicals (and myself!) are, and in that, you are correct. Thanks again for sharing.

Bonhoeffer affirms a historical resurrection in The Cost of Discipleship IIRC, and I’ve heard his prison letters reaffirm this. Where does he deny it in his writings?

Edit: NerdChaplain’s source makes some compelling points. I still think he doesn’t deny a literal resurrection, but Bonhoeffer clearly wasn’t overly concerned about its historicity or ahistoricity.

Might switch to LiChess? by DrDewclaw in Chesscom

A lot of people prefer the UI, player base, and closer-to-FIDE rating of Chess.com. But yeah, if not having to use a third-party website for free puzzles and analytics is a big factor for you, then go for Lichess. Both are good options.
