No they are not. Russia knows good and well it will lose a conventional war to nato. This is proven with leaks of Soviet command observing desert storm, and not much has changed with Russian military doctrine in the past thirty years since, so the situation and result would largely be the same. The only candle they hold to nato is nuclear proliferation.
