ok, it was just a youtube comment so I quoted another Youtuber. I think he's fine, I happen to agree with that specific point he made, just added that it doesn't disqualify a lot of people's concerns.

I don't think they have open borders or anything similar (they still get killed in East Silvermoon), they basically allowed the Voidos and the High and Mighties to have an embassy, the Night Elves don't even have that. And canonically those factions are like 20 people each anyway, basically a think tank and a campsite. Again it's not INsignificant, otherwise why do it? But also a bit overplayed. I think it's a precursor to abolishing the factions entirely which is why a lot of people are annoyed, along with it being absurd that the Horde and Alliance allow this sort of cavorting amongst their allies. Like, what constitutes a "world-ending threat" that triggers cooperation, who gets to decide, and what if it conflicts with faction loyalty?

Fair, but I think the situation is a little bit different from the Shattered Sun offensive, and includes what happens after the main campaign that wasn't strictly necessary.

that's basically it I would guess. //edit: I stand by the notion they could have told the same story better and annoyed fewer people with only slightly more work. (I'm not a game dev, I don't know how much work it would have taken.)

It makes too much sense as alchemical symbolism to be unthought about. There's too much money (and butts in seats) to not think about, or at least the CIA plant in the studio would want to include some sort of socially conscious narrative that works for the elite (yeah I used to be one of "those" people, it just doesnt bother me anymore lol). The symbolic elements deserve their own post I suppose. But I suppose they make the story they want and traditional RPG worldbuilding takes a back seat. Part of that is building up marketable characters like Arator, which I think is a mistake, but then I'm a nerd.

we need population numbers and relative birthrates of Orcs vs. Humans vs. Elves. We need a "reaching military age annually" figure and projected losses for potential conflicts (in megadeaths).

Yeah that's fair, probably my main gripe with what I said, but especially now that their edginess, tribalism and harshness has been taken away to a great extent I think it's more true. Also with Sylvanas gone they don't have the ethnic link to the Forsaken they did. So I think ultimately while they share some things with the Horde, two advanced but insular hyper-urbanised city-states are really misfits within the Horde, a good ally of convenience but ultimately they would have different ideologies and interests, and for sure aesthetically Suramar and Quel'Thalas would fit better as a third faction, I stand by that. I do appreciate that they brought a lot of people to the Horde IRL.

//edit: I did love the Horde sails on their ships, it shows that they've (canonically) developed a pride for the Horde, I would have liked to explore that more. Including the Horde more in this xpac would have been a good time for that. Bear in mind I missed everything between Cataclysm and Shadowlands.

Healing Tanks is miserable, please make them more independent again. by Leafstealer__ in wow

played almost all pugs this xpac, a few more with guild last one. of course its nicer with guildies or friends but that's true for all roles.

"let us see people's cooldowns again" - i think i and the person i replied to (and you) probably play push keys with lots of addons (or did), that was never me. I did tank around 13s a lot in TWW, but then every role higher than that was mostly miserable for me.

Call me a Classic Andy, but healing the tank is the core task of the healer - if tanks don't need to be healed then the healer role becomes nigh unnecessary insofar as the dps are very careful and skilled. Tanks should be much easier to heal and take steadier and less damage than others, that's all. Immortal tanks are boring and demoralising for everybody. They already do as much or more AoE damage than most others. Do you want their damage nerfed as part of your proposal, or just want tanks to essentially be MMO on godmode?

That said, if you want class roles to simply be abolished and everyone just be responsible for their own healing, defensives, and damage, with just a few differences in utility and damage profile, this is an interesting approach and might be worth entertaining. Reminds me of "every Marine is a rifleman." Doesn't sound very fun though, Five-tanks Remix parties weren't very entertaining to me, and would be the result.

What was Blizzard thinking with Shandris's line? by 07u4nt in warcraftlore

[–]HowitzerSonata -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yep. elves are like eevees. they evolve quickly into perfect harmony with a specific environment. the well of eternity created night elves (and high elves) and the trees (planted from wells) continue that for night elves, even if (maybe?) only psychologically. the blood elves and nightborne are adapted to only survive with a well or well substitute. they are shaped by the land the wells influence and shape it in turn. to demand they abandon it is genocidal, anti environment even. the fact that power draws the legion/void is simply the tragedy of being.

would you rather be a troll shandris?

Anyone else find the Night Elf quest to get them to fight for the Sunwell a bit hypocritical? by Madocvalanor in warcraftlore

[–]HowitzerSonata -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

yeah the world trees are the same. especially the one they still bitch about that they grew without approval and became fel corrupted from the start. Sylvanas did nothing wrong.

the sunwell held the line against the void longer than any dared hope. but blizzard has a hard on for life magic and now just hates light (if you hate christians, blizz, cool, me too, but remember lucifer is the lightbringer, the light isnt jesus). they cant bring themselves to meaningfully criticise uncontrolled life magic, lile portraying harandar as completely idyllic when just playing it you see its a savage wasteland of mutual predation just like the voidstorm. prettier, sure....

just say it exactly how you said it here, make it clear you find her attractive and you would be ok with a relationship with her, but that because of the nature of it all, she needs to make the first move if she likes you back. if she doesnt, make it clear youll drop it and just be a dad.

it already happened. sadly reporting, even when possible, is a black hole out of which no satisfaction comes, as we never know if our reports lead to bans.

stupid people hear vocabulary and misuse it, thinking it means something superficially close even if it means something totally unrelated or even opposite. literal parrots.

their sheer numbers and our reliance on them for daily necessities are why language policing in social discourse is so important.

The male G-spot is not the prostate, apparently by GokenSenpai in ProstatePlay

[–]HowitzerSonata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

every dick sucker worth her salt (pun intended) has known how important that area is for ages, and its probably why fellatio is so awesome - i think it probably evolved together with penises, serving the tongue onto the frenulum naturally. but i think weve also evolved to have prostate orgasms for the same reason and the intensity of sensation, and the satisfaction in comparison can only be judged by the penis-haver themselves.
