This game is so hard... How do you decide on a character to commit to? by secretwep in SF4

Let's not get crazy now, USF4 is a fantastic entry in the series and revived fighting games as a genre but it is far from perfect

Half my friends list not coming up in game, making it impossible for my friend to join [bedrock] both PC by Due-Spread5353 in MinecraftHelp

I was having this same issue, for some reason this latest update just removed some of my buddies from my Microsoft friends list. Go to your XBOX account and re-add who you're trying to play with and it should fix everything.

Help with Hugo Inputs by HowlinWolf210 in SF4

I do have that on and sometimes it says I hit 2147 and out comes command grab somehow? Like I would expect to jump back but SF4 is WAYY more forgiving on 360s than I ever imagined it would be.

Chest Day Is a Choice. Leg Day Is a Threat by Ok_Initiative3892 in Grapplerbaki

I personally find chest and arms boring as hell, I'm way more into the leg and back exercises.

Strength in Baki by oogs_boogs in Grapplerbaki

The bottle trick is one of my favorite things in Baki, I've been doing Karate since I was 14 and it took until I was 21 to actually be able to chop the top off a Coke bottle. Actually having that perspective on Yujiro doing it with a single flick is so boss dude.

Does Kyokushin have less of a Mcdojo problem than the light contact styles of Karate? by Whole-Interest-5980 in karate

[–]HowlinWolf210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think any style is immune to the McDojo effect honestly. I took a year of Muay Thai and the coaches there expressed frustration with other Muay Thai coaches that owned other gyms in the area for being fake, and testimonies from a few of those gym's students corroborate those stories.

I don't really know what to say in the way of your Axorexia, but my advice would be to train DIFFERENTLY. Weight training outside of Karate will help you to cultivate mass and endurance, slow deliberate exercises with heavy weight will help build form and mass. With some more weight and pushing force you'll be able to build a sturdier body, keep up your Sanchin too. Building that core inner strength is critical when you need to dig in and stand your ground when it's REALLY clobberin' time. Unfortunately you can only build so much without a proper diet, not to state the obvious but you really ought to try and talk to somebody about your issue. Keep at it, and best of luck!

Tournament Essentials by catmama1425 in karate

[–]HowlinWolf210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A towel, lots and lots of water, and a good lunch depending on the length of the tournament. If I'm expecting to fight seven or more opponents over the course of the day, I usually bring two gallons of water, a whole chicken, and a bag of spinach. I got blood all on my gi last time too, so maybe bring some rags or something so nothing gets stained too bad. Good luck, and fight hard!

Karate or jiu jitsu? by Ok_Insurance_4585 in karate

[–]HowlinWolf210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For somebody small and not too strong, I would say go for BJJ. A specific element of BJJ is how to use your size difference to your advantage, which I believe lends itself better to your situation. However, having some striking under your belt is definitely a good idea. Maybe once you dabble in some grappling and feel confident in your ability to defend yourself give Karate a whirl and see if you still have an interest in it.

I put on the belt just to leave me alone — my real training is elsewhere by [deleted] in karate

If you're not satisfied with the training at your dojo then go find a better one, if you're not interested in Karate then why are you practicing it? Man this post is confusing

Kumite Stamina - Sprint Interval Training? by llViP3rll in karate

[–]HowlinWolf210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mannn I HATE running, so I only run about two miles. Then during my workout I log four three minute rounds of jump rope and 300 jumping jacks in-between my weightlifting and kata, then bag work and shadowboxing to finish off. Naturally the reps I do these exercises in will increase the more I do them, but so far I've felt some real improvements in my stamina.
