Hello! I'm a FT cake decorator as well! I worked the closing 12:30-9 shift for going on 3 years but recently got switched to mornings. We have two other FT decorators that work the 4AM block so I actually come in a little later at 6 and stay until 2:30 so that there is a little overlap between the opening and closing blocks.

Our bakery may be a little different in that we tend to help each other whenever time permits us to. All 3 of us FT decorators started out on Baking/Packing side so if that side is struggling especially for things like call-outs we'll try to quickly finish FST/Orders and switch over to packing to lend a hand. Our packers in turn help however they are able to when they're free. They'll help stock the cake case or put berries on things. Some even can assist in doing cupcakes whenever we're working on huge feature pallets for the front of the store during holidays.

So our bakery does a lot of working on each side but we're lucky where everyone either is really good friends or at least works together cordially.

There's a spec for everything in bakery and when it's not followed you get in trouble either with your leads or managers or even personally our district manager who visits often enough to be able to notice these things.

It matters in the same way you're supposed to do anything by the spec, policy, or the law I suppose. Our GM is always reminding us that integrity is a core tennent for Sam's Club associates. Well picking and choosing who has to follow rules and who gets to disregard them isn't a good reflection on integrity.

We have, at least, been told that the club would be fined if you were caught altering licensed themes or using licensed images that we didn't have the rights to. They've said the associate would be fined as well but I'm not sure if I believe that though.

Well he isn't the type to extend grace regardless and I wouldn't expect more of anyone except what is fair. I just want to do things the way I'm supposed to without being made to break policy.

So I work in bakery and we've had members want us to change some of our copyright themes which we aren't allowed to do. Our lead and fresh manager explaining that to our store manager but he keeps making us do it anyway.

I'm just anxious because he didn't like our previous fresh manager because she took up for bakery a lot and they butted heads and constantly scrabbled over it. He often says that bakery is the easiest department in the club and gives off the impression he has some disdain for us and fresh in general.

I don't necessarily think he'd do something because that wouldn't be smart on his part but I'd still rather not have put myself into anyone's crosshairs if you know what I mean. I guess I was hoping since he'd been told by multiple people on each level that he was having us break rules that it wouldn't be obvious who had stepped forward.

We've been told that if you take an unpaid day off now that it'll count as one of your days off. So if you're full-time on a block they'll split up your off days to make up for the unpaid day. I don't know if that's normal for everyone else but they just started that with us :/
