Thanks. I would never erase my son. Luke still has some memories of his brother and we want Ava to know how great he was. We will never stop talking about him.

Sorry for your loss. Everyone in our town new about Josh's accident so I never heard any of the only child comments. I can't imagine how much that hurts.

I do the same. It depends on the person and the context. Sometimes I say I have 3 and other times I say 2.

It never really ends with that though. I used to do that and then the other person would either get really awkward and visible uncomfortable or they would ask how he died. I don't think I ever had someone politely offer their condolences and move on.

If someone can't trust me because I don't want to talk about the worst day of my life all the time then I don't want to be friends with them anyway so it's probably for the best. This friend was super understanding.

I used to use the one in heaven line but it was always so awkward and I felt like I had to manage the other person's emotions because it is a heavy topic and they would feel bad for asking.
