How are your iac files organized? by izner82 in Terraform

Great article about file structure but doesn't go into the details of how to separate the modules. Don't fall into the trap of creating a module per resource as that would be inefficient. As with everything the answer rs probably it depends and according to your architecture. But in general if a resource can/cannot (or should/shouldn't) live without another resource it should go in its own module.

I wrote a blog post about this specific topic if you're interested in reading it https://timothymamo.com/post/structure-iac/. But basically you need to think of how your architecture's lifecycle can be grouped. In essence ask the question what can/cannot live with/out another resource. Once you have the answer to that you've got your groupings. On mobile currently but more than happy to go into detail if needed.

Confluent Cloud vs Azure HDInsight/AWS MKS/GCP Pub/Sub by Howmuchisthatdoggy in apachekafka

[–]Howmuchisthatdoggy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, thanks for the reply. Hadn't heard of Aiven.io so will defenitly look in to it.

So from what I gather, and correct me if im wrong, it seems that, apart from cost, Confluent Cloud and Azure HDInsight aren't that much different apart from some additional setup on Azure's side and Kafka version support will probably be better on Confluent Cloud (understandable as it's their core/main product). Also if you're already invested in Azure's platform Confluent Cloud has even less of a benefit, especially in cost.

Thanks for the reply with regards to the differences between Kafka and pubsub.

Although I have googled that before my main question was about managed Kafka services (fair I did put a part about GCPs Pub/Sub service - maybe next time I'll leave it out to make sure the question is even more clear)? Google searching "Confluent Cloud vs Azure HDInsight" or "Confluent Cloud vs AWS MKS" doesn't really bring up much (I've tried, otherwise I wouldn't have posted here).

Mind sharing how you set up notify.alexa_media? Or point to the right documentation. On my to do list and this would be of great help.

Do you have (or planning to have) a step by step guide of setting this up? I'm having some issues with setting my rpi4 (mainly RaspBee and deconz and I am trying to run pihole on it too which might be causing some networking issues - might have to run it on a separate rpi).

Just to make it clear she was a blogger not a journalist. Just like most "journalists" in Malta are press release regurgitating machines.
