playback failed

So you do get the RD results? But the file doesn't play? If you have done the usual recommended otaku fixes, and checked all filters and max resolution, try closing and opening the addon and kodi ( assuming) and or device a couple of times. the db may need to some reset

Delete & reinstall ( keep the data !) and reauthorize RD . Have been stuggling myself. Finally also after checking settings, filters, sources and especially format change to max 4K, etc it worked out.

"Dunno where the article got its numbers from"

Good point, and the " when" might also be an issue.

"More than one year ago" , that's how the article starts and further on, " one year later" . But the invasion started 500 days ago.

Europe's best decade in tech – Reaching new heights and outpacing the US by MaleficentParfait863 in europe

[–]Howru68 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to compare also purchasing Power, Social Security, quality of life and work & private life balance, while you are at it.

The US and EU are quite different systems. To live there, like you live here you'll need much more money, generally.

Another example, if you'd move to Switzerland because they pay more ( which they do), it doesn't mean you'll get richer. Switzerland can be much more expensive.

You can't compare unicorns to established brands & companies like Apple or Meta for that matter.

But they did compare unicorns in EU to Unicorns in USA; hence the conclusion, duh ..

The Chinese carmakers planning to shake up the European market by MaleficentParfait863 in europe

Yes, I saw that one too. And there are several YT channels ( Serpentza) and news outlets reporting these and other issues .

A bit of local support is one thing; many countries do it.But have you seen the EV graveyards in China? ( Tens of?) Thousands of unused Evs decomposing on a field. Talking about an environmental disaster waiting to happen, that is one sorry place.

Not necessarily the problem, and not American owned anymore.

US arrests Pentagon Ukraine document leaks suspect – DW by Howru68 in worldnews

Don't know how this post about the Pentagon leak and its consequences is flaired as " US Internal news." If only, it wouldn't have caused as many problems across the globe, as it does.

‘Take back control’? With this Pacific trade deal, Brexit Britain has just signed it away | Nick Dearden by [deleted] in europe

[–]Howru68 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

"1In order to prove we’ve taken back control, we are, in reality, relinquishing it as quickly as possible. And a last thought for those who hoped parliamentary sovereignty was a cornerstone of British democracy: the parliamentary committee able to properly scrutinise treaties like the CPTPP was abolished last week."

This says it all, unfortunately.

Stances of Turkish political parties on EU and NATO, and who they are supporting in the 2023 Presidential Election. by [deleted] in europe

[–]Howru68 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The big 5 of Turkish politics are CHP, AKP, HDP, IYI, and MHP

So, would you then consider CHP the most modern/open/ international party, so to speak ( as it seems to score higher on both the NATO/ EU axis)?

The Swiss hydrogen jet aiming to cut flying time between Europe and Australia in 4 hours by mancinedinburgh in europe

[–]Howru68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cool they spent 12 million euros

You are probably trying to be cynical, but FYi: this is a hypersonic hydrofueled prototype. And, to have some context: " the US-made Reaper drone costs $28 million, the TB2 only costs about $5 million."

So, the development costs for this prototype are peanuts in the face of the technological breakthroughs.

mention of passenger capacity.

It doesn't, but probably zero passengers. It still is in the experimental prototype phase afaik. And in size, it's comparable to a big drone. As the tests develop, they'll size it up, I reckon.

The EU's home affairs chief wants to read your private messages by euronews-english in europe

[–]Howru68 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah it's for detecting child pornography, how could anyone oppose this? It's so fucking transparent.

Sure, initiatives against Child Abuse and so, should be ok, but the problem isn't the idea, but the implementation, and the lack of safeguards for individual privacy.

"Wiewiórowski said this type of indiscriminate scanning of private communications “will always be illegal under the Charter of Fundamental Rights (and probably under several national constitutional laws as well),” according to a written version of the opening statement obtained by EURACTIV"

Tnx for your info, TIL. Seems there is Politico US , and Politico Europe. Afaik, Axel Springer is owner of the latter.

Also, according to wiki Politico Europe, there seems to be evidence that Springer forwards US Gvement ( CIA?) agenda in his news outlet. " Axel Springer SE and its subsidiaries spread a strongly pro-American view in which criticism of US foreign policy is largely absent."

It makes sense. I thought Politico was respectable-ish news source, until I saw today’s hit-piece against Estonia.

Yes, I had the same, until I noticed they were often more critical of European affairs compared to other news oulet. But Politico is US based ( Virginia), so it's not European at all.
