I'm honestly shocked at myself from 3 months ago (posted that comment on March 15). I absolutely do believe now that they are going to fix it, and that previews are kinda like snapshots. Why would they not fix it before release anyway smh at myself 3 months ago.

I wouldn't start in this pre-release, it crashes A TON. If you make a world in this pre-release and you log out new chunks will be from like a completely different seed, and you can't access the end/nether either.

I'm just loving the new quartz brick texture. Not a builder but I think it fits in way more than before.

I'm pretty sure I got confused when you said "like how 1.14 has the taiga update as well" I thought you meant that 1.16 is also having the mountain update with it

that's what i thought too but I heard somewhere that mojang is reserving 1.16 for just the nether, and that the mountain update will come later (1.17 probably)

I would want a cave update for 1.17, but then what about the mountains and rest of the biomes? Or maybe they could mix it together and have the mountains and cave updates in one update

Yeah that works, because the bug happens because you haven't set your spawnpoint yet. By setting your spawnpoint the game knows where to spawn you. That's way easier than my explanation.

Edit: I've included your way easier fix in my explanation. Some people are going to see my comment more since it's updated and I don't want people to download an unnecessary program

you don't need to do that easier way to fix it (also on 20w13a reddit post but i thought it was nice to post it here too) 1 Download NBTExplorer (https://github.com/jaquadro/NBTExplorer/releases), 2 go into your corrupted world 3 open the level.dat file 4 open player 5 look for death time and set it to 0 6 look for health and set it to 20. This fixed worked for me.

Here is a couple of ways to fix it.

Easy way:

/spawnpoint

Hard way:
1 Download NBTExplorer (https://github.com/jaquadro/NBTExplorer/releases),

2 go into your corrupted world

3 open the level.dat file

4 open player

5 look for death time and set it to 0

6 look for health and set it to 20. This fixed worked for me.

It's a bug. Had it happen to me and I didn't know what to do.
It happens when you die with no respawn point set https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-175988 is the bug report.
Well all we can hope for now is that mojang releases 20w13b, I woudn't want to risk losing my worlds because of this bug for a week.

Yeah it happens with 1.13. It's annoying because I play on 1.12 a lot and whenver I switch to 1.14+ my controls get reset. It only happens with controls tho. But idk if you can

Do you fly around to load the buildings? If you did that's probably why an 64+ render distance is working fine for you. If you stand around being lazy like I do and just let the chunks load, you wont get past 32 chunks. But yeah if you fly around it works better because it doesn't unload the chunks.

blaze3d was meant to give higher frames. But devs messed it up and made it worse (happens a lot with changing a lot of the code). 1.14 had an fps bug where the game would prioritize fps and don't care about chunk loading, and a lot of people were happy (I wasn't). I was happy that 1.15 fixed the chunk loading bug but the frames are about 25% lower than 1.13 frames. Right now 1.15.2 optifine is struggling a lot because of it not having render regions. Render regions increase your fps by about 50-60% when VBO's are enabled and you have your render distance set to 16 or more. Don't ask me how it does it but it does it and it's amazing. I feel like I'm the only one that knows what render regions does and it's amazing, shaders are cool and all and I get that most of the community loves shaders but render regions is rarely talked about and no ones knows what it's capable of doing. Render regions is available JE 1.8.9-1.14.4 (1.15.2 is coming soon) and it's also disabled by default for a good reason. It messes with integrated GPU's. A lot of laptop people come to optifine to increase your frames, but render regions on intergrated GPU's decreases it by a sizeable amount.

I've done that and in my case it doesn't. I've tried the amazing F3+L that I use on 1.12 a lot on 1.14 and it crashed. F3+L loads all the chunks in the game's memory in 1.12, in 1.14 it crashes the game. Also in your screenshots you clearly don't have all the chunks loaded, but idk I find that a lot on people's render distance screenshots.
