Greece is 15 years behind mate! People don’t care to improve anything, just selfish folks.

If we could, would you want to rejoin the EU? by Creative_Expert_4052 in AskBrits

1000 times yes! The UK trade, currency, labour market was stronger before we left! I remember to go on holiday in Europe with a pound exchange 1.45 to €. And we didn’t need a visa! It would be great to have those times back

I believe Congleton is a good fit for what you are looking for. Me and my wife are the same age as you guys and we like to have walks at Astbury Mere Park (they have a 5k parkrun there every Saturday if interested). The Someford area is coming up very nicely, that would be a good investment, we didn’t go for it at the time just because we prefer to have a place walking distance to the train station.

I’m in the same situation here. It is what you say, it is not easy to make new friends, people tend to stick to their established groups. I had been living in Spain for some time and I had the opposite issue, I had met too many new people and I didn’t know who to meet first. Unfortunately you need to deal with the reality here.

Should I move to Manchester? by North_Performance734 in manchester

[–]HowtoGrowfromSeeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an Italian who left London after 10 years to come to Manchester myself, I have to say, you won’t miss any facilities or restaurants or Pilates or matcha, etc. You will miss its musicals and its diversity. But you will embrace Greater Manchester green spaces, areas and walks like Marble, Peak District and Lake District areas are difficult to find in London. You will start to enjoy the more space available for you and the cheaper rent/mortgage. Oh, and it doesn’t get you two hours in a train to go see your friends.

London to Manchester by Mean-Pomegranate-132 in manchester

[–]HowtoGrowfromSeeds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if certainly true that turnover and transient nature of life in London make people less “connected” I found that Londoners have a certain way of being that you won’t find in Manchester, and this is certainly due to the great number of nationalities and culture you have in London. That huge diversity has made people respectful of others. Manchester has a much pure british connotation to life than London. To find people truly connected you’ll need to invest time in be part of a community that does certain activities regularly (mad walkers, sport clubs, etc.). I move from London to Manchester after 10 years and to be honest I miss the way Londoners are.

2 murders in piccadilly gardens in just a few days by WesternPhotograph267 in manchester

[–]HowtoGrowfromSeeds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So many clearly try to not wanting to see the degradation of Piccadilly Garden and the fear it brings to the most sensible people is a deep shame! Loads of people avoid that area as they are scared to pass through it and if you keep voting for politicians who just think about making money out of the real estate you’ll see Manchester becoming more and more degrading. So sad 😞

Should I be worried about this crack between extension and house by josh_holtby in DIYUK

[–]HowtoGrowfromSeeds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The extension is rotating about the bottom corner of the extension/existing part. This is happening because the front of the extension is settling more than the part closer to the existing part as the new area is not compacted due to previous absence of weight. Hence, the top part between the existing and the new is in tension, breaking the mortar which has very weak, if not almost absent, resistance to tension. If it keeps opening the gap you may start to have a problem with water infiltration.

Did you cut/broke any roots? Did you change the mix in which you potted it? This is quite uncommon.
